Yes, we are targeting a certain group of leads that have purchased a related product form us in the past - the problem presents itself if there are different types of offers going on at the same time. In this case it's a Black Friday deal for a specific product type (we're a retail organization). Sales reps could potentially be working leads for 2 or more different "sales campaigns" (for lack of a better term) at a time.

I expect our target accounts will end up being more long term than a specific sales campaign for holiday

I got an interesting question today that I coudn't find an immediate answer to.

Basically what one of our sales managers is looking for is a Marketing Campaign. We want to reach out to leads to gain pre-orders for a specific offer. We would then want to be able to report on how much activity sales reps did on this specific campaign. How many emails/calls/etc. while still in the lead stage, before it moves to a deal.

How have other's handled tracking/reporting sales and lead activity for a specific offer? Rather than general sales?

I hope that makes sense and I'm anxious to hear your perspectives!

If so, you could use the Target Accounts feature and choose which companies you're targeting and see the activities associated to each of the accounts including emails, calls, tasks, notes, etc.

@JKohlmeier Hmm - this is tricky as we can't tag activities to a specific type.

If you are targeting users before a deal is created, you could create a custom property that notates the campaign that a sales rep is targeting them with.

From there you could build a report based upon users tagged to the custom property (campaign), and pull activities associated to the contact.

Alternatively, since you are at an enteprise level you could build a custom object that notates the campaign and associate contacts to the custom object and break out activities in a similar report notated above. This isn't typically best practice but it would solve for the use case.

Thanks! I was hoping there was a better way than a custom property, but it sounds like that might be the best option here.
