Company creation through Forms in HubSpot

Hello all,

Is there a way to prevent new companies from beign created whenever there a Company property is used in a Form and filled? I know in theory by avoiding company properties in forms we can solve this issue. But we've seen that is tough to to this sort of micro-management and also there is no way for us to know whenever this happens. Is there an alternative so company records are not created even if a property is being used in a form.

Hi @galvanA81, there is no toggle to prevent company creation after using the company property if forms. The best option is to use the Contact's properties (you're right), if you want, for example, to know the Company Name and Industry. You can also create a custom contact property if you need any other data about the company. Why don't you want to just avoid company properties in the form?

Its not that we want to use Company properties in forms. We do instruct our users to NOT include Company properties, but every once in a while we encounter forms with these properties (just human error)

Hey galvanA81,

The main reason HubSpot does this is because of the default setting that automatically creates and associates companies with contacts based on their email domain. If a user fills out a form, HubSpot spots the domain and instantly spins up a new company record.

If you want to stop this from happening globally, you can turn off the "Automatically create and associate companies with contacts" toggle in your account's object settings.

Alternatively, if you only want to prevent it for specific forms, the best workaround is to avoid using standard Company properties on the form itself. Instead, create custom Contact properties to collect that info (like a simple text field for "Organization Name"). That way, the data is stored safely on the contact profile without triggering a brand-new company creation.

Does turning off the automatic association setting fit your current workflow, or do you need to keep that active for other forms?
