Sales Cycle in HubSpot

Hi everyone,

I am a new HubSpot user (on a Professional plan), and a Salesforce power user of 10 years, who's been struggling to find a way to include a per-deal sales sycle metric into my detailed pipeline reports - is there an actual way to do this (not involving writing code or complex formulae, please)?

At first, I was shocked to see a default Age property does not exist and tried to create one on my own, only to realize I could not include it in a non-summarised report where cycle is usually tracked.

AI then advised me to do this through Workflows, which are awfully unintuitive, but then any familiar functions like TODAY or Calculate were not available to me (I tried at least 3-4 workaround suggested by AI).

My overall feeling is that this is really basic, and HubSpot has made it unnecessarily complicated. Even if there is a way to do this, I should be able to find something so simple in less than 5 minutes; if anyone from the Product team is reading this - you need to fix your basics.

Hey @EleonoraG

You can add a custom time calculation property

1) Go to Settings -> Data Management -> Objects -> Deals -> Manage Deal properties
2) Create a new property, choose Type = Calculation, Calculated property type = Time since and use Create Date as Start Date

There are some limitations though:

Time since and Time until properties are not supported in the following:

Filters in the custom report builder.
Inputs in calculation and rollup properties.
Custom data sync field mappings.

Thanks for your help, it's appreciated.

I did exactly what Eugene suggested above but the problem is I (for some weird reason) could not surface this property in a report, which means I also cannot properly review and compare Age for multiple deals at the same time, spot outliers, etc.

Hey @EleonoraG - thanks for confirming this.

As outlined in @EugeneAtKiwi 's reply, it looks like a limitation of these properties is that they actually can not be used as filters in the custom report builder, which explains the behavior you experienced.

Hey @EleonoraG ,

Not sure what exactly happened here and what kind of report that was, but you can definitely use this property in custom reports as a measure (sadly, not as a filter).

So you could build a custom report for Deals, use the Age and "(count) deals" properties and experiment with various chart options to see which one can represent your data better (table might be the easiest option here, but bar charts can be helpful too). You might see something like this to identify outliers, but it can be a bit tricky due to the rounding of the age calculation:

Also, if the goal is to identify exact deals or the # of deals with Age > X (e.g., deals with Age > 22 days), you could build an active segment for those deals and then use it as a filter in your report. That will let you have better visibility in your charts:
