&lt;P class="first:mt-0 last:mb-0"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;They're specifically looking for two features:&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P class="first:mt-0 last:mb-0"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P class="first:mt-0 last:mb-0"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;1) Cap the number of open deals a salesperson has&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P class="first:mt-0 last:mb-0"&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;2) Not assign a new lead to someone out of office&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P data-start="16" data-end="558"&gt;For capping the number of open deals per rep, there isn’t a built-in limiter, but you can approximate it using a workflow that checks the count of open deals associated with each owner before assigning a new one (explained here: (&lt;A href="https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/set-your-workflow-enrollment-triggers" target="_blank"&gt;https://knowledge.hubspot.com/workflows/set-your-workflow-enrollment-triggers&lt;/A&gt; )&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Yeah this is exactly where I’ve seen HubSpot start to struggle too. Once routing depends on rep capacity or availability, workflows get pretty fragile fast.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Most teams I’ve talked to end up stitching together properties + workflows + manual overrides, and it still breaks when edge cases stack up (OOO, uneven deal load, priority leads, etc.).&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Curious if anyone here has moved the routing logic outside HubSpot entirely vs trying to keep extending workflows?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

I'm sure folks have different experiences. Here's what I've seen.&amp;nbsp;Middleware like Insycle (my favorite), SyncMatters, or custom integrations is the common bridge long-term. No one solution lasts forever as orgs scale in my experience. And middleware solutions can empower teams with automated routing via features like auto-scaling, duplicate prevention, and conditional logic while keeping HubSpot as the system of record. In my years as a consultant, full externalization is rarer and usually tied to CRM switches, where routing becomes part of a separate sales platform with HubSpot syncing data bidirectionally. However, even then, many retain HubSpot as the "intelligent system of customer context" via APIs, avoiding complete decoupling. That's my 2 cents.&amp;nbsp;&lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":smiling_face_with_smiling_eyes:"&gt;😊&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;
