Hi everyone,

Is there a way to create a workflow reminding salespeople to associate a deal to another deal after they created a deal without associating it to another deal?

I tried using Associated deals record ID = unknown as a trigger but it doesn't work. I also know that you can make deal to deal associations mandatory when creating a deal but that's not an option because other deal types don't need to be associated to other deals. Unfortunately, making the deal to deal association mandatory based on the stages or other properties doesn't seem to be possible.

Background: we deal with demo deal conversions and create separate deals for demos and conversion (i. e. large rollouts). The demo deals always have a contract start & end date (with the end date mostly being an estimate) and I automated changing the demo deal end date to the conversion deal start date with a workflow. However, that only works if the demo deal is associated to the conversion deal.

Hi @Fexxi,

Yes, you can set up such a notification, here's how I would do it:

Create a deal-based workflow

Enroll those deals that are eligible for this notification (e.g. by pipeline)

Add a delay (e.g. 10 minutes, you don't to send a notification right after creation – maybe the sales rep is already in the process of establishing the association)

Add an AND/OR branch in your workflow that checks for an associated deal

If the deal goes down the left branch, do nothing

If the deal goes down the right branch, send the notification

Assisting screenshots:

(Change from "Deal (Current Object)" to "Deal")

(Place notification in the bottom right branch)

Best regards!
