I could do with some help please.

We are a small UK based company with only half a dozen used on the free version.

After 18 months of emailing from HubSpot, for reasons I don't have the brain power to even begin to imagine, never mind understand, HubSpot says that I need to link my O365 inbox account to my HubSpot account to continue.

I cliecked the Connect Inbox orange button and logged into My O365 account but now its telling me that I need to ask 'admin' to grant permission to this app before I can use it.

I went through all this TWICE yesterday and we just went round and round in circles and got absolutely nowwhere.

Could someone please explain to me exactly what we are being asked to do. Do we need a HubSpot admin person to grant permission? Or do I need our MS Admin to grant permission. Like most HubSpot stuff, its as clear as mud. And I do understand why that is.

Can anyone offer me a simple, easy to understand, acronym free explanation of what I / we need to to do. Thank you.

I am definately not a robot

Thank you in advance

Mike

Hi Mike,

I understand your frustration - this is indeed confusing! But from what I can tell you need your Microsoft/Office 365 admin to grant permission, nothing to deal with on the HubSpot admin side. When you try to connect your Office 365 email to HubSpot, Microsoft is blocking it because your company has security settings that require admin approval before any outside app (like HubSpot) can access company emails.

There's helpful article that can be found here. Just scroll down until you find a section call need admin approval within the article. There some helpful links provided by Microsoft to help you or admin to alter/grant those permissions. But I did leave some steps below to help you as well:

Enable for verified publishers: Your admin can allow users to consent to apps from verified publishers only. Since HubSpot is a verified publisher, this would let you and others connect without hitting the permission wall each time.

Your IT admin or you needs to:

Go to Microsoft 365 Admin Center or Azure Admin Portal

Navigate to Settings > Org Settings > User consent to apps

Either enable user consent temporarily or approve HubSpot specifically

I assume the reason this is happening now (after 18 months of it working fine) is likely because either Microsoft or your IT team tightened security settings, or HubSpot updated their integration to comply with newer security standards.

Of course theres alternative appoaches to do this so I'm curious to hear what others have to say on the topic. Hope it helps Jay!
