      <title>Best way to manage cold calling data</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I have a substantial list of individual prospects (B2B) we would like to use for a cold calling campaign and am looking for advice on the best way to use this data in HubSpot (currently it is an Excel spreadsheet).&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;The plan is to:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Upload the contact data to HS&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Make cold calls to these contacts with a view to booking a demo of our software to interested parties&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;- Once a demo is booked, the Sales Managers will take over and create a company for the contact and add to their deal pipeline&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Previously I have set up a deal pipeline for cold data so that the outbound team can use this to move contacts along their process and then hand over to Sales Managers once a demo is booked but I'm not sure this is the best way to do things.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Any advice please??&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;We often see both implementations:&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;UL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;The outbound SDR/BDR works leads as contacts and once a demo call is booked, a deal is created&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;or a deal is created for the outreach stage&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;/UL&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Both can work, but if the conversion rate is low, it leaves a lot of cleanup for potentially low-value leads, and requires killing the deals in closed-lost, showing a poor win rate, as well as then having to purge the leads.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;There is an advantage to having a deal, if there are multiple contacts at one company - as that keeps multiple outreach attempts together in the deal.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If you do not use a deal, a more common approach is to use contact Lead Status and Lifecycle Stage (Lead -&amp;gt; MQL -&amp;gt; SQL) at the contact level, so that when the deal is created, the contact and company lifecycle stage changes to Opportunity.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Regardless of whether you use deals initially or not,&amp;nbsp;are there email addresses in your spreadsheet?&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If so, HubSpot defaults will help you by automatically creating the company and associating it to the contact at the time of import. Having the company record also can help you automate some lead qualification by matching companies to your Ideal Client Profile (ICP)&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
