Hi @Suheb

I wanted to clarify the approach to creating a custom object. We only create them when standard objects (Contacts, Companies, Deals) cannot accommodate our needs. Or totally it depends on our business Model.
For example, in an education business model, we might create custom objects named as Schools or Colleges. Additionally, structuring relationships involves defining associations between objects, whether with Contacts, Companies, or both, depending on our specific business requirements. This can be one-to-one or one-to-many relationships.

I hope this will help you out. Please mark it as Solution Accepted and upvote to help another Community member.
Thanks!

It's Asking About:

Creating custom objects (e.g., subscriptions, projects, assets) beyond HubSpot's default ones (contacts, companies, deals).

Structuring relationships between those objects and standard ones (e.g., linking a "Project" object to multiple "Contacts").

Ensuring the setup remains manageable, performant, and flexible as your CRM scales — meaning more users, data, automation, and integrations

Hi @Suheb ,

Planning and executing custom object implementation requires some thought, but HubSpot makes the actual implementation easy.

I would sit down and think through the various custom objects you want to create:

What are the objects I am planning to create?

What other standard and custom objects will they relate to? Are those connections one-one or one-many?

Does HubSpot have this object pre-built for me in the object library?

Draw out your schema. HubSpot provides the Data Model to help you undestand these connections, but I always draw it out first in a tool like Lucid Chart or Figma. This process forces me to think everything through before I build.

Generally speaking, I would encourage you to ask yourself these questions:

Do I really need a custom object for this or can I accomplish this with a type field and some other custom fields?

Do I really need all of the relationships I have in my design?

How will having this object benefit me in my day-to-day business?

Once you have everything laid out and planned carefully, then it is time to build. If you've done the process right, you'll probably end up building less than you throught you would at the start.

I hope this is helpful!
