Hi @Linah4,

The one-to-one subscription type is meant to be a way for contacts to unsubscribe from individual sales emails. Marketing emails cannot be sent using this subscription type.

If you want to send one-to-one emails via workflow, you would have to set up a one-step sequence and then enroll contacts into that sequence (requiring Service or Sales Hub Enterprise).

Alternatively, for contract-related emails, HubSpot has a transactional email add-on: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/marketing-email/how-to-use-transactional-email-in-hubspot

If that's not within the budget, you could indeed create a separate subscription type "Customer information" and use that for your emails.

Best regards!

Automated Renewal Emails Using One-to-One?

Hello,

We are wanting to setup automated renewal emails for our clients (sent 60 days before a subscription ends), but I'm trying to work out the logic in how to do it. I thought I could set those up through one-to-one but I can't select that as a subscription type in the email. Is this possible? What is the purpose of the one-to-one subscription type otherwise? Even when I archive it, it becomes unarchived. Do I have to create a separate subscription type for these emails, then treat this as a marketing email?

Thanks for any advice!

Hi @Linah4

So, one-on-one subscription is a HubSpot standard one create to send direct emails (usually from the sales team) and in general is associated with templates and sequences too.

If you want to learn more about the different types of emails and uses

I'd suggest you take a look at this live session that happened yesteday

Im happy to help you clarified any doubts about that.

In your case it could be a standard workflow (for customer success team) or ideally it should be a transactional email (with the add-on)

If you are using subscriptions in HubSpot you might already have this feature available.

Hope this helps

Ah! Thank you for the explanation! I'm sorry I'm still not fully clear on what a one-to-one email is? is this an email that comes from an individual on the sales team? How is one initially subscribed to this? Does the Conversations inbox trigger anything? Thanks again for your help and input!

@Linah4 one to one emails would be sent as described here: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/one-to-one-email/send-and-reply-to-one-to-one-emails

Emails sent using the sales extensions in Chrome or Office 365 would also be one to one emails. Only within HubSpot would the platform warn you however that a contact does not have an opt-in, if you the GDPR settings are enabled, for example.

By default, HubSpot is not maintaining this or opting contacts in automatically. This is something you would maintain: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/records/manage-your-subscription-preferences-and-types

Without the GDPR settings enabled (legal basis required tickbox), you're not forced to maintain it by the system.
