I've interviewed 100s of sales and marketing candidates. I like to ask questions about what do they enjoy doing, and what do they not enjoy doing. Everyone has a 70/30 split (like/dislike) and if someone answers, "I love everything!" that is a red flag. Talking about dreams is not practical. The company wants to hire someone that can get stuff done within the culture. Are you a team player? Are you a loner? Your future is not "I want to be a manager"...in order to manage you have to know how and what to do.

And, quite frankly, managing people is painful. And, your "future" should include staying at the company you are interviewing with. Full. Stop.

Are you goal oriented? Are you process oriented? Are you money oriented? These are all questions.

The question about salary/money is one that should be outlined from the start from the recruiter. You can say that you would prefer a range from "X to Y" and please make certain that it is not off the rails in terms of expectations.

I'm not sure if this helps or not, yet that is my quick overview based upon your questions.

I actually find money and salary a great conversation for an interview, it means both parties have a clear guideline of expectations in that area. Otherwise you could got through the whole interview and be offered a salary that doesn't work at all for you!

I personally hate the "what's the worst thing about you" type questions, or the dreaded "why shouldn't I hire you" negative questions. But I know as an interviewer they can really be quite helpful in getting to know someone.
