&lt;P&gt;There is an important distinction here: There is a field on the contact record called "Company name" and then there is the name field of the associated company record. These two are not automatically updated.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;In other words, when you are adding a new contact to a company record, you are establishing the link between contact and company. In the right sidebar, you'll see that association. Unless you're also explicitly filling out the "Company name" &lt;STRONG&gt;contact&lt;/STRONG&gt; field during its creation or after, that field will stay empty.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;In Professional subscriptions, workflows can be used to copy the name from the associated company record in to the contact field. In the free CRM you'll unfortunately have to do this manually.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Should you in fact be referring to the association that is not shown, I'd recommend simply refreshing the tab. This will solve the issue.&lt;/P&gt;
