Hi!

I am a rev ops associate and database administrator for a non profit. We are newly integrating hubspot into our revenue operations and trying to establish a flow that minimizes any redundancies or error or confusion in our processes for managing leads/pledge pipelines and finance reconciliation. Would love to hear from any non profit folks out there who have found success streamlining their operations with Hubspot. Thank you!

Nathan

It would help to better understand your internal processes to be able to make recommendations. As best practices, there are a lot of things you can take into account, such as:

Use association labels to connect contacts, companies, deals, and other data objects to have a clear picture of the relationship between them (i.e., a company associated with a deal can be a corporate donor, while a contact associated with a fundraising deal can be an individual donor).

Use a property like contact type to differentiate between different stakeholders (donor, partner, supplier, trustee, volunteer, etc.).

Make sure you map the definitions of your customer journey(s) and the criteria that qualify a contact or a company as a lead, MQL, SQL, and so on, as you can use these to automate the progression across the customer journey and measure conversion rates between lifecycle stages.

If you do online fundraising through a payment processor like Stripe, you can use the Subscriptions data object in HubSpot for recurring donations or payment forms and links.

For corporate or institutional fundraising, use deals and deal stages.

You can use ticket pipelines and tickets for volunteer activities.

Data governance is important for all companies and sometimes even more so for nonprofits, as they have multiple stakeholders that need to be properly segmented.

And so on. You can learn a bit more from the HubSpot for nonprofits page, but there are also resource pages, case studies, apps for nonprofits, and other article on the net that can provide additional guidance.
