is it possible to create a report where we can identify which marketing emails produced a booked meeting? My goal is to create a report/visualization of which emails drove most bookings. Not just the people who have clicked the CTA to book a meeting, but actually those people who have actual meetings booked

We are using Hubspot meetings.

Hey there @COcampo5 - welcome to the Community!

Yes, it is possible to create a report in HubSpot that identifies which marketing emails produced booked meetings, but the specific approach depends on your HubSpot subscription level and how your meetings are being booked.

If you have Professional or Enterprise tiers, you can create a custom cross-object report that links marketing emails to booked meetings.

Here's what that could look like:

Create a custom cross-object report using Contacts and Activities as the data sources.

Set up filters:

Activity type: Meeting

Activity date: Choose your desired time frame

Original source (Contact): Filter for marketing-related sources

In the Visualization tab, include:

Activity assigned to (Activity)

Count of Contacts

Original Source (Contact)

Email campaign name or other relevant email identifiers

This report will show you which meetings were booked in relation to specific marketing emails or campaigns.

A HubSpot Starter subscription has limited options, but you can still access some default reports related to meetings by navigating to Reporting & Data > Reports, then Create report and searching for "meeting" in the search bar.

Since you're using HubSpot's meeting tool, you can also create a single object activities report that includes the "Meeting source" property. This can help you identify where meetings are coming from, including those booked through marketing emails.

Hope that helps!

@danmoyle I’m also trying to build a report like this and want to make sure I’m understanding it correctly. From what I can tell, the report described here would show meetings booked by contacts whose original source is listed as marketing email. Since you can’t send a marketing email through HubSpot unless the contact is already in the system, “marketing email” shouldn't be the original source for any contact. Am I thinking about this correctly? I might be missing something or totally misinterpreting your custom report dev.

I’m looking for a way to understand which specific marketing emails led to a booked meeting, not just a click, but an actual meeting scheduled. I haven't found a way to do this just yet. I’ve been thinking about using properties like:

Last marketing email name

Marketing email click date

Last conversion date

Meeting date

This doesn’t give perfect attribution, but it might help spot patterns, like if a meeting was booked soon after someone clicked a specific email.

Would love your thoughts.

Thank you!

Hi @VMarketer . I don't think you’re misinterpreting things. In most portals, Original source = Marketing email is actually pretty uncommon, because you usually have to know the contact before you can email them. Original source is set the first time HubSpot can identify them, which is often organic search, paid, etc., and that value doesn’t change just because they later receive a marketing email.

There are cases where Email marketing becomes the Original source (for example, someone’s first tracked visit to your site is via a link in an email, including forwarded emails with tracked links), but that’s the exception rather than the norm.

For the “which emails drove booked meetings” question, I’d treat this more like an attribution pattern than a strict Original source filter. If you’re on Pro/Enterprise, you can build a cross-object report tying email engagements to meetings. If not, your approach with properties like Last marketing email name, Marketing email click date, Last conversion date, and Meeting date is solid. I’d layer on a time window (like meetings booked within X days of a click on Email Y) so you can spot which email sends most often precede a meeting — it’s not perfect attribution, but it’s very actionable.

I hope that helps!
