Email performance with smart rules

I've looked at other similar posts (ref.

Split email performance metrics based on Smart Rules)

but I've been trying to use the Reports to get the metrics I'd like to use, which are already segmented into lists.

I'm currently looking at obtaining roughly the same stats found under the Marketing Email "Analyze" tab for an email that uses smart rules based on a list membership.

Our smart rule list filters are based on a contact property. The email is sent following a form submission (which can be submitted multiple times).

So far, I've built a custom report using Marketing Email (as primary) and Contacts (secondary). It seems to work when using the Marketing email event : Delivered emails as the numbers are the same (comparing report vs. email performance). I've used the Marketing Email Name "has ever contained exactly" = the name of our email.

However, where I am having trouble, is trying to find the report setup to show unique email opens.

What i've done is, cloned the previous report (as the report worked), and used the Count of opened emails as values. The number of opened emails is much over the delivered count, as it takes into consideration the total number of times the email was opened.

By changing the values to Count of contacts, I get closer to the number of "unique opens", as the email hasn't been sent to many contacts for now, but in the long run, this wouldn't work, as the same contact could receive the same email more than once (if they've submitted the form multiple times).

Is there a way to get the "unique opens" found in the email performance and not the total opens, nor the contacts ?

Hi @JLetellier,

In that other post, I explained that you can use this dropdown to compare performance for different lists in a single email:

You would just have to make sure that whatever lists you use for smart rules are actually included as recipient lists for your email.

If you're looking for the standard email metrics, this is by far the best and easiest option to break down email performance.

Would that be an option?

Thanks for the precision @karstenkoehler.

However, the email I am trying to obtain this information for is an automated email. Therefore, I do not have "List Name" filter options in these emails, nor a recipient list.

If the list was being used while sending a regular email (not an automated email), then you may find the results directly from the email itself.

However, if you are sending an automated email, I guess you could setup the report filters to show only the specific list, and have different reports for each list.
