Hi HubSpot,

Currently we have a WordPress website and I want to ensure form submissions get captured in HubSpot CRM which will trigger workflow. I noticed in my CRM that wpfusion is connected and im wondering if this integration is sufficient to achieve above or i need to install wpforms plugin/ add HubSpot tracking code to website or install wordpress plugin?

Below are some other questions:

1. with wpfusion plugin, do i need to embed hubspot form shortcode or will i be able to select any pre-created hubspot forms?
2. If i create form from Wordpress itself, will this be considered non-hubspot form in CRM?

Appreciate your swift response. 🙂 Thanks

Hey @DGanasan wpfusion syncs your wordpress contacts with your HubSpot contacts, this means it takes the data from your wordpress forms and uses the HubSpot contacts api to create a new contact with that information in HubSpot.

While this does sound great, it's actually lacking a lot of features over HubSpot forms in that respect. Using HubSpot forms (even through the HubSpot wordpress plugin) will embed the full HubSpot form on your page, this means every time you edit a form, add hidden fields, change settings in HubSpot etc and publish, your form will automatically update on your page. It will also capture your cookies effectively so you can target and track contacts who visit your site and submit the form.

Since wpfusion syncs to contacts, it cannot submit the cookies to HubSpot, meaning you cannot track or target these users when visiting your site.

Regarding integrating a wordpress form with HubSpot, this would be done through the forms api. This means the external form is just sending it's submission data to HubSpot, it does not receive any data from HubSpot. So if you edit your form within HubSpot, you will see no changes to your WP form. It's possble this form may not map to contact properties correctly, meaning the form field data will not come through, and it's possible it may not be capturing the correct cookie data, which means again you won't be able to track the contact.

Overall for ease of use I'd always recomend using the first party HubSpot plugin and forms, it minimises the tech-stack you have and provides the most integrated funtionality.

This really is down to your needs though, I know some things like contact form 7 or gravity forms have some features HubSpot forms don't have, and vice versa. So if there are specific features you need out of wpfusion this might be needed, but if HubSpot forms have everything you need I'd definitely recomend using those.

Also worth noting, the HubSpot WP plugin installs the HubSpot tracking code for analytics and cookie tracking, I don't believe wpfusion does this. So you will need both anyway.
