Are the leads being categorized as Direct Traffic? If so this article here explains possible reasons why direct traffic may be higher than expected

Hey @MHaasjes how exactly are you trying to populate this field? Are you adding query strings into your url? Are you using a default value? Or are you using another method?

Hi @MHaasjes

When you are going to test it on a particular platform that platform must have HubSpot tracking code placed.

Also, the landing page on which you are testing must have utms value placed in the link. So, that value will populate in the utms.

I have the same issues. utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign are added as hidden fields on the form. I've also added this to the referring site links as query parameters appended to our demo url. When I test it, I see the parameters when filling in the demo form. The form submission comes in successfully with all information except the utm parameters. I'm also accepting cookies on the site when reaching the site, so this is unlikely a cookie issue.

The thing I see tripping SO many people up with this is that HubSpot forms will only capture the UTM parameters if they are still in the URL when the form is submitted.

So if you send people to your homepage from your ads, and then they click over to yoru Contact Us page to fill out the form, the UTM parameters will no longer be in the URL and so they won't be captured. It only works if the user submits the form on the exact same page they landed on (without browsing around).

The solution to this is to store the UTMs in the visitor's browser and then pass them through with the form submission. As other people in the comments have suggested, you can write some custom code to this or you can use tools like attributer.io which handle it all for you (they work with HubSpot forms and like 50 other form tools).

So I guess it just depends on what resources you have. Do you have someone on staff who can write and maintain custom code? If so, try doing something yourself. If not, go with a tool like attributer to handle it all for you (classic build/buy debate)
