How to prevent a form re-submission?

I'm seeking a way to prevent multiple submissions from the same contact in a form. We're using a form to register contacts for an event, and ideally, we'd like to indicate to users that their email address has already been used for registration.

Is there a way to achieve this at the developer level?

I'm looking for a setting in individual form-level.
