Hello to all the team,

Is it possible to block the sending of a form based on a specific property choice?

I have long dreamed of this feature on Hubspot (already natively available in other Typeform-style form soft) : the possibility of being able to block the sending of a form based on a specified property.

Imagine: you create a form for services of +1000€.
A lead fills it out, then indicates that he has a budget of €500: he therefore cannot send it.

I had already voted on a similar suggestion dating back to January 8th, perhaps things have evolved since then and I haven't seen it? Or a beta feature?

Thank you in advance for your response !

Hey @Lysiah when you say "sending of a form" I assuming you mean submitting a form?

If so, you're asking for custom validation which is a big limitation to HubSpot forms right now though. They don't offer custom validation, and I haven't heard of this on the roadmap any time recently.

For your specific example however this can be done. You can set a minimum number on all number fields, so you could set the minimum number of your field to 1000 for something like "your budget".

You can't offer a custom error message, however this will stop the form being submit if a visitor enters something below the set number. You could then just add a rich text field below this, or even help text on the field itself to say something like "please note only budgets of €1000 or more are accepted", or whatever text you want. This will block all submissions below 1000 if you've set that as your budget limit.

Realistically the only thing missing from what you need right now is a custom error message, which can be solved by adding in help text or rich text on the field.

Another option you may be able to consider just not through the UI. Through the customization of the form embed code you could verify the data that was attempted to be submitted through the onFormSubmit function which executes after validation but before submission. If that data point matches, just send up the error message and in the else case let the form be submitted. https://legacydocs.hubspot.com/docs/methods/forms/advanced_form_options

Thank you for your answers !

Indeed when I said “sending”, I really meant “submitting” (my English often plays tricks on me)!

My example with the numbers was not the best way to illustrate the problem in fact. @TomM2 you are right about the number limits, it could be a good solution for this scenario !

For mine specifically, I often need to validate textual properties:

To simplify: Yes/no question.
- If yes: possibility of submitting the form.
- If no: do not count the form, and therefore do not count the user as lead

Just like the number limit, maybe I can cheat on a textual property by asking to note a special word with a defined number of characters, but I think that's not the best solution, knowing my category of leads, they will enter the given word without worrying about meeting the conditions 😅...

@Ben_M : thank you for your solution too! it could be a good alternative!
