What is the difference between a pillar page and topic cluster and how does it relates to SEO?

A pillar page is usually a long form, comprehensive piece of content that sits at the heart of a topic cluster. A topic cluster is made up of a pillar page (intended to rank for the topic keyword) and supporting content (typically blog posts) that all link to the pillar page consistent using the topic keyword.
