topic Setting up Content Clusters For all Website Pages in Content Strategy & SEO

Hello,

I have a question about the need for setting up content clusters for our Homepage, Product pages and other website pages and how best to do that. Or to find out if it is necessary to do it at all.

So, currently, we’re only using content clusters to link blog articles, ebooks and other resource-type content to our various pillar pages. We haven’t really gone much deeper than that.

Our Homepage, for example, isn’t connected to any particular ‘Topic’ or attached to a topic if you were to go into our HubSpot backend and have a look at the optimize section. That's the same for many if not all of our other main pages.

We’re about to take on the first major redesign of our website and I want to ensure that I hit all the right SEO notes with this and other pages when it comes to optimising all our content.

So my interest boils down to two questions:

Is it necessary / a best practice to attach every single page on a website to a ‘Topic’ or should I only be choosing the most important pages?

Should it be set up so that my Homepage serves as the ‘Topic’ and then I’d treat all the appropriate Product and Services pages as supporting content?

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @DarrenMG ,

We would like to clear your doubts one by one.

Setting up content clusters for every single page is a good practice for mapping out your SEO but not 100% necessary. If you set up a cluster, you can easily track the performance of your pages by just choosing the campaign name.

And when it comes to setting up a cluster for your Homepage and all the appropriate Product and Services pages as supporting content, then that would work as well, as a kind of pillar page for crosslinking to the rest of your site.

That's definitely a fair strategy but it really depends on how you want to set it up 🙂 Say if there's an opportunity to interlink within your site I would personally take advantage of it.

Hope this helps!

If we were able to answer your query, kindly help the community by marking it as a solution.

Thanks and Regards.
