    <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi Karsten,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I'm working on implementing this and I can't see how to add branch criteria that picks up the marketing email activity.       <title>Using marketing email in multiple workflows - stop contact getting same email twice</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi all.&lt;BR /&gt;I'm in property development and I have multiple workflows that use the same sets of emails (in different sequences and for different reasons).&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Is there a best way to check if contact has received marketing email "X" and if so send marketing email "Y" instead.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;So contact enters Normal Nurture workflow, then becomes a Deal so is enrolled in workflow Deals pre-meeting1.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;If they have progressed through the normal nurture far enough they will have seen quite a few of my emails (not enough time to create more!) and some of them I may reinforce but ideally I'd like them to see emails they haven't before. I guess i could send those email again especially if they havn't opened them but that adds another layer of questions!&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks for the help!&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;The best way to set up a logic for this is by leveraging if/then branches in workflow:&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;In this example, the workflow is always checking whether an email has been sent before proceeding. If it has been sent already, the action is skipped. This can of course also be designed to send a different email (although in theory you'd have to check if this email had also already been sent).&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Depending on the content of the email it can also make sense to send it again, as you already pointed out. These are the questions I'd consider before choosing this option:&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;UL&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Might a contact have received the same email very recently (within the last few days) or would there have been a longer time period in between? (The same email twice within a short time period would stand out negatively.)&lt;/LI&gt;
&lt;LI&gt;Is the email more promotional or informational? (An informational email send would be more acceptable.)&lt;/LI&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Nevermind I was in a deal type workflow - switched to contact typer and it works fine!&lt;/P&gt;</description>
