Hi Karsten, I am aware that Hubspot automatically does that, however, we have created an UTM for a partner, where we are driving traffic to THEIR website. We want ot see outbound traffic attribution also, as we provide these links to our sales people to send to their customers. Therefore, we would like to add this UTM to our markteing cmapaign bucket and see clicks instead of going to Reports of UTM parameters

Hello,

How can I add UTM links to my cmapaign buckets so that I can review tracking/attribution in one area?

thanks,

Alex

Hi @alex_marketing,

HubSpot automatically appends parameters when you associate assets with a campaign, e.g. social posts or marketing emails: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/campaigns/create-campaigns

You can then analyze the performance of each page: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/website-pages/analyze-performance-for-individual-pages-and-blog-posts

You can also create your own tracking URLs and associate them to a campaign: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/settings/how-do-i-create-a-tracking-url

If you don't have access to HubSpot's tool, any other tracking URL generator will also work. Just be aware that you can't change this categorization logic: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/reports/understand-hubspots-traffic-sources-in-the-traffic-analytics-tool

If you want to look at your incoming traffic holistically, you can do so in the traffic analytics: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/reports/analyze-your-site-traffic-with-the-traffic-analytics-tool

Best regards!

Hi @alex_marketing,

If you're not tracking these external pages yourself (as in: if your HubSpot tracking code is not installed on those pages), you can't track this with HubSpot. You would have to set up your own pages (which you can track) before redirecting to these partners. (I haven't tested this however and I'm not sure how reliably HubSpot tracks page views when they're immediately redirected.) Otherwise, the traffic does not go through your HubSpot tracking code and won't be visible to you.

To take another example, if you append parameters to a YouTube link, it's not possible to see a count of views of that YouTube video with that parameter in your HubSpot portal. Your analytics don't cover this external page. A parameter doesn't sync information, it's a source identifier for the receiving page.

Alternatively, you could use a link shortener like bit.ly to see how many times a link was clicked – however you won't get that information inside of your HubSpot portal.

Best regards
