How to assign contact owner by IP country

I'm trying to assign contact owners based on the region that a contact is located in. It seems this is possible with a workflow and using the IP country but I can't find the documentation. Do I have to type in every country in europe to assign these countries? And how do I divide by states in the US?

Hi @GesseWol

IP Country is expressed as text in HubSpot, not a dropdown, so yes, you do need to manually type each one into your relevant workflow rules. The same goes for IP State/region.

Hi Phil,

I've got a quick question here regarding this same issue - so I am also assigning contacts by workflow and would like to utilize the IP State/Region or IP State/Region Code properties; is there any way we could be provided a complete list of possible results from these property fields?

For instance, I'd like to see the schema used for "united states" for my workflow where I could assign out all international (or "non-united states") sales to a sales rep, but I don't know if the property captures "united states" or "usa" or "united states of america", etc. to actually trigger the workflow accurately. I've noted all the results it generates are in lower case, but not being able to see the property list it assigns from seems like a potential hinderance.

Hey Travis,

I believe you can easily view it in the contacts layout. You can edit the columns and include the properties that you want to see in the layout. If they're already there, you can drag and move it to the 2nd/3rd column.

Once you have that, you can click on the column header and it will sort ascending/descending and you will be able to see the list of all the filled properties and you can check/confirm the convention.

Hi all,

I am jumping in a little late, but I have a question regarding specific geographic areas within a state. I would like to assign leads to a certain HubSpot user based on where they are in a specific state. For example, if a contact in Northern New Jersey filled out some form and was entered into a workflow, I would like the North New Jersey sales rep to be notified, but not the the Southern New Jersey rep, is there a way to do this? I am not entirely sure sure if this is possible to get to this level of granularity, but figured it was worth an ask!

I'm struggling with this too. I need to automatically assign contacts to marketing leads across the world. I'm trying to do this using IP Country as this appears to be the most reliable field for our contacts, but I cannot find a list of all the countries and acronyms to ensure that no contacts fall through.
