Hi Ben, do you build a custom app to sync the UTM parameters from Shopify to HubSpot?

It's a bummer that HubSpot left out the UTM parameters as part of the native HubSpot-Shopify integration. In a perfect world, HubSpot would sync all order API calls that are available in Shopify, but that's not the case.

Even with the HubSpot code snippet installed on the backend of the website, HubSpot cannot always retrieve the source information of website visitors and is not as reliable nor as accurate as Shopify's UTM parameters based on the data that is currently available.

Hey Hi!

I am stuck while integrating my shopify website and hubspot.

My primary use case for using Hubspot is to understand and map what is the acquistion channels that helped to convert a customer, and to review the pages they visited and eventually the path it took for them to convert.

My primary queries,
- Once Shopify app is installed, how to enable settings to map original source for all contacts? Exp: Paid Search, Direct etc? For now it shows as Offline Integrations.
- All forms in my shopify webiste as Non Hubspot forms. I have also adding tracking code using GTM and its firing well, but i dont see any forms that got integrated yet. What am i missing?

All contacts created via an integration like Shopify will show as an Offline Integration. This is due to how the integration works as the source is collected into Hubspot forms via the tracking code which is not available through the integration. What I recommend to clients in this respect is to make sure you are capturing UTM parameters or values from the integration platform and then build out a custom source tracking solution in Hubspot to accomplish this as the Hubspot fields will not have the data you are looking for.

Thanks for the input Ben. I will explore this.

Will it makes sense if i just disable Shopify integration, and let hubspot to capture contacts on its own with its tracking code given my only objective is to find the which channel is doing well? Or is it mandatory for Shopify integration, as i dont see any data coming in without integration despite tracking code being added.

As other commenters have suggested, The "Offline Integrations" source issue happens because that is Shopify creates a contact in HubSpot via the API, so technically that contact did in fact come form an Offline Integration.

If you want to get attribution data on where Contacts came from, you'd need to capture the attribution data (UTMs, referrer info, organic search data, etc.) when visitors first land on your site and then pass it through with both form submissions and purchases in Shopify.

Tools like Attributer can help with this. It captures the original source when someone lands on your site (whether that's Paid Search, Organic Search, Direct, Social, etc.), stores it in a cookie, and then writes it into hidden fields on your forms. The data is then captured with the form submission and can be sent to HubSpot through your existing integration.

Quick note: I used an AI assistant to help structure this response, but the advice is based on my experience and I've reviewed it before posting.
