Hi,

we are embarking on a project to move all of our visual assets to a DAM solution. Part of this project requires a massive clean up. HubSpot is lacking in management of the Files section and it looks like this might be an entirely manual process.

Exporting the images and using a third party tool to help seems to be my best option, unless anyone has had any experiencing with cleaning up the visual assets in files without breaking the existing images usage. Removing duplicates and maintining the highest resolution image is our goal.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions on good external tools to use to help with this please let me know!

This is a great topic and I found a couple of posts in the Community where other users are trying to tackle a similar challenge:

I also wanted to share this feature request that @mike-thomas submitted about the option to create File Sets / Taxonomies in the file manager. It'd be great if you could support the idea with an upvote. Thank you!

The Community members who I've tagged above – if you have any additional experience or advice that you could share with @Melly2022, that'd be great! 🙏 Thank you!

Thanks for highlighting the suggestion Mia.

I've had numerous challenges since making that suggestion where clients have desired document libraries and hope one day we'll see that become a possibility.

With regards to a clean up, I have previously used the API to work with "known" information to at least make a manual clean up easier.

https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/api/files/files

So, loop through the files using the seach endpoint, and make lists of files that match certain critera. In my case this was images of a certain type and size. I would suppose that you can identify duplicates in this manner - comparing both file name, type and size.

Perhaps with a 3rd party AI tool, you might also be able to perform an automated visual match.

If using something like PHP to run this script, you could lean into something like image compare: https://www.php.net/manual/en/imagick.compareimages.php
