Add active lists to Campaign?

Hello!

Is there a way to get an active list added as an asset to a Hubspot campaign? We have an "events attended" field where we can track what contacts we met / attended at different events and want to make sure that those contacts are associated to that event's campaign in Hubspot.

It's easy when we get an attendee list, upload it and have can update that property to append the new event on those contacts & add that static list to the campaign, but it doesn't look like there's a way to create an active list where events attended = X and associate that. Is there a better way to do this?

It looks like this is an idea that's currently being considered in the Ideas Forum. I suggest you give an upvote/like to the idea, and leave your specific use case as a comment to helpt the HubSpot engineers prioritize this feature build out.

What is it?

You can now add active contact lists to your campaigns - saving time, reducing manual work, and giving you more confidence in how you manage campaign-related contacts.

Why does it matter?

Unlike static lists, active lists update automatically based on criteria you define. This means you no longer need to manually update or replace lists as contacts move through journeys, meet eligibility criteria, or become disqualified.

Whether you’re using lists for lifecycle segmentation, reporting purposes, or internal operations, associating active lists with your campaigns helps ensure they always reflect the most relevant and up-to-date contacts. While list-level reporting is still limited, the ability to track real-time changes in list membership offers directional insight into how your campaigns are evolving - without the manual work.

How does it work?

Adding 'active (contact) lists' to your campaign:

Navigate to Campaigns.

Create a new campaign or select an existing campaign.

On the Campaign Details page, click the 'Add assets' CTA to open the modal.

Navigate to CRM > Contact lists.

Select the respective static and/or active lists.

Click Save to confirm.

You can add static or active contact lists to multiple campaigns. As with any other asset type, you can also add your active list to a campaign directly from the Lists tool.

Measuring asset performance:

At the bottom of the campaign’s Performance tab, you’ll now see both active and static contact lists associated with your campaign, along with a contact count for each, making it easy to understand your total audience reach.

Any contact who is part of an associated list is automatically counted as influenced by the campaign. Keep in mind: once a contact is marked as influenced, whether through a list, email, or another asset, that influence cannot be removed. This behavior is consistent across all campaign associations and helps maintain a reliable record of engagement. We recommend reviewing your lists before associating them. We’re also exploring ways to offer more flexibility in the future.

While associating a list with a campaign helps you track reach and growth, lists themselves do not support revenue reporting in HubSpot. Revenue attribution is based on a contact’s interactions with marketing assets (like emails, forms, and pages), not on list membership. To understand the revenue generated by a campaign, we recommend associating your key engagement-driving assets, such as emails, forms, and landing pages, alongside your lists.
