Are Deal IDs unique across HubSpot accounts or only within a single portal?

Hi HubSpot Community,

We are working with multiple HubSpot sandbox accounts and had a question about Deal IDs.

Are Deal IDs globally unique across all HubSpot accounts?
Or are they only guaranteed to be unique within a single HubSpot portal (account)?

For example, if Sandbox A has a deal with ID 12345, could Sandbox B also generate a deal with the same ID 12345?

We want to understand whether we should treat Deal IDs as globally unique, or if we should always use a combination of portalId + dealId to ensure uniqueness when working across multiple HubSpot accounts.

Deal IDs in HubSpot are unique only within a single portal (account).

This means it’s possible for different portals, including sandbox, production, or other separate HubSpot accounts, to have deals with the same Deal ID value.

For example, both Sandbox A and Sandbox B may have a deal with the ID 12345, but these reference different records in their respective portals.

Deal IDs, as well as other object IDs like contactId, companyId, are only guaranteed to be unique within a single HubSpot account. They are not globally unique in all HubSpot accounts. So, as you have said, the best practice is to use a combination of both portalId and ObjectId to make it unique globally.
