Need access to crm.objects.emails.* scopes for the Engagement API

I am trying to import Email activities for Contacts, such that the email associations with the recipients are also created properly. For this I have to use the Engagements API. However, for the associations to get created, I need to confifure the 'crm.objects.emails.read' and 'crm.objects.emails.write' scopes in my private app. These scopes are not visible in the relevant configuration section even though I got the Profession trial license enabled.

How can I get the emails imported with associations maintained?

Hey, @feeroz 👋 Sometimes it's easier with issues like this to try to simplify things as much as possible to try to locate the root issue.

Questions:

- when you say inmport, do you mean Import (using the Import API endpoints)? Or “import” more broadly as in “adding engagements via the API”?

- can you make a test Private App with only the bare minimum scope listed crm.objects.contacts.write

and Postman using the Engagments endpoint (with Associations)

can you share the full JSON response and error body from your on test, pleae?

The Engagements endpoint documentation for Emails doesn't show the scope you list as required, so seeing your request and response may show us some clues.

In my quick test just now:

- I created a new Private App with only one scope

crm.objects.contacts.write.

- I made a request to the Engagements API to create an email and associate it with an existing Contact

The last place I like to check for scope issues is the Scopes documentation page as it lists all the available scopes (regular and granular) along with the required HubSpot subscription needed to use them.

Hi Jaycee. I performed a similar API call and got this error.

It is quite possible that the Support staff’s API tokens/portals have elevated, internal, or demo scopes not granted to real-world customers. Here are the Scopes that I could find and attach to my Private App:

Hey, @feeroz 👋 The portal I use is a standard app test account. And for the example I gave, I only had one scope and made a simple request to Postman.

The error in your screenshot states it's having an issue inferring the object. Did this clear up by chance? I just reran my test and have another email created and associated with my contact Bob Belcher.
