Issues with domain ownership verification for developer app

I'm attempting to add a TXT record to my GoDaddy DNS settings to verify my HubSpot developer account. However, I'm encountering an error that states: "Record name www conflicts with another record."

Currently, I have a CNAME record using "www" as the host, but I don't have another TXT record with "www" in the DNS. According to the HubSpot instructions, I need to add a TXT record to verify ownership of my domain.

Does anyone know how I can resolve this conflict or if there's an alternative approach for HubSpot verification that avoids this issue with GoDaddy?

I also tried adding the TXT record to my root domain by putting "@" as the host instead of "www", and I was able to add the record successfully on GoDaddy, but I am still getting the "Your DNS changes either haven't been made or are still processing" error from hubspot.

The "Record name www conflicts with another record" error occurs when a CNAME record for "www" exists, preventing coexistence with other records (like TXT records) under the same name due to DNS record limitations. To resolve this, consider the below give options and give a try

Firstly, delete or modify the existing CNAME record for "www" if it's unnecessary or tied to an inactive service. Besides that, retain the record and add the TXT record at the root level using "@" as the host, ensuring it contains the correct HubSpot verification token.

After making DNS changes, allow time for propagation (usually within an hour, but up to 48 hours).

Next steps:

Verify DNS changes using tools like DNS Checker.
Confirm the new TXT record has propagated correctly.

This resolution approach should help resolve the error and complete the verification process

Hey,
I am facing the same issue but I am using squarespace and i cannot the www cname record as it is tied to an active website.
I tried to putting the hubspot at @ as host but it didnt work

Hi @VSanghi

Since your www CNAME is active for Squarespace, you should keep it in place because it’s tied to your live site. For verifying your domain with HubSpot, add the TXT record exactly as HubSpot provides and place it at the root domain (@) instead of www. After saving the record, allow time for DNS propagation (sometimes up to 24–48 hours) and confirm the TXT record is visible with a DNS lookup tool before retrying verification in HubSpot.
