HubSpot/Salesforce integration

What version of each platform do you need to have?
Are there any areas of the setup to look out for?
If we turn it on now, how do we get historical data synced between them?
What permissions does the user setting it up need to have in each platform?
If the person that setups the integration leaves or is downgraded in their access, will that break the connection? How do we prevent that from happening?
Should you setup it up through your hubspot account or salesforce account? Does it matter?

Great questions! Let me see which ones I can answer:

Basically HubSpot Pro anything or better, Salesforce professional or enterprise plan. See: https://ecosystem.hubspot.com/marketplace/apps/sales/crm/salesforce
There are loads - I suggest reading:
Historical objects (those that existied before the integration is turned on) will sync when they meet the inclusion and sync trigger rules. See: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/salesforce/salesforce-integration-sync-triggers Historial activities and events can not be synced by the integation and you would need to use a third-party migration service (like Trujay) to achieve that

The solution is to create a seperate integration user account to which access can be obtained even if people leave
Start in HubSpot and you will be guided through the steps, including installing the necessary packages in Salesforce.

Hi @BHumphrey0,

Most of what you are looking for can be found here.

A couple noteable things to look for:

If there's a custom object in SFDC, you'll need Enterprise if you want to map that data as a custom object.
Pay attention to what data you want to sync. Use inclusion lists wisely if you want to be specific as to what gets sent to SFDC from HubSpot.
From my experience historical data is more limited using this native integration vs the TruJay migration tool - also note that at this time the native tool won't bring over attachments from SFDC to HubSpot
You should have a specific integration user on the SFDC so you don't have to worry about that person's account being removed.
There are steps you have to take in both the SFDC and HubSpot side

I would also recommend running through the Salesforce Integration certification in HubSpot. It will take you some extra time to get started, but I promise you that it will save you time in the future.
