Hi @Renegade , Chris here at Salesmsg. We do have an integration directly into HubSpots CRM widget so you can send and receive both SMS & MMS text messages right from the contact record.

You can insert custom properties, canned messages, emoji's, pics, schedule messages, write internal notes, and much more.

Have you seen our Hubspot SMS page yet?

Integrate with Hubspot UI

Not sure the best way to ask this, but here goes...

I am new to Hubspot development. I am attempting to integrate a messaging application to Hubspot (for ease of discussion I'll just say it is a simple SMS application). I have found some similar integrations, and they appear to work in a way that is only loosely "integrated". That is, if one would like to use the 3rd party application's services, one is basically transported to that application (via a popup window, e.g.) where one can then do whatever he/she wishes from within that app. In this example, the 3rd party app is simply supplied with the contact information from Hubspot, and performs the work, pulling information from Hubspot where needed.

What I would like to know is if there is support for a deeper integration to the Hubspot UI itself. E.g., in the example above, if one would like to SMS a contact, could I create an integration in the HUBSPOT UI that would access the 3rd party application to perform the operation? So, for example, I might be able to display a "SMS" button in the contacts page and can directly send text message to client (much the same as how the email works).

Perhaps this is easy to do, but as I mentioned I am new to this and haven't been able to track this stuff down in the documentation so far.

Thanks for any help.

Hi @Renegade ! This sounds quite like our CRM Extensions API https://developers.hubspot.com/docs/methods/crm-extensions/crm-extensions-overview. I have attached quick video of how my extension currently works, to see if this matches up with your vision:

Thank you very much, Connor! Sorry I forgot to update this post as solution till now. This was exactly what I was asking about. (Often I find if I post in a forum and ask something specific, I get answers to 12 other things I wasn't looking for. LOL! So it's nice to see this bullseye 🙂 .)

I do, however, have a follow up question along similar lines. Although I can accomplish quite a bit via these extensions, I do still wonder if there is more flexibility than I've discovered so far. E.g., although this API makes it easy to add a side panel to the contacts CRM, am I able to construct more generic UIs as well? I.e., can I build a more complex "Hubspot" control and display it in other places via this toolset? I do realize I can integrate my own hosted UIs via the IFrame capabilities (which is quite nice), but just curious if more is available with Hubspot API. Or for that matter, is there more flexibility in the "controls" available - e.g. can I add a generic drop down list which I can use to supply parameters to a webhook (instead of each list item being essentially an independent hook)?

I haven't seen this in the documentation, so I thought I'd just check with the master. And if I've managed to confuse you, lemme know and I'll post a little mockup of what I'm talking about. 🙂

Hi @Renegade ! Glad I could help. Your question does make sense, but what your describing isn't possible. We are generally quite prescriptive with CRM Extensions to fit certain criteria and abide by the rules we set. You can only add extensions to contacts, companies and deals (hopefully tickets soon), and they can only exist in those locations. I'm afraid the generic dropdown list isn't possible either. Thanks for checking though! I think we'd like to give a bit more flexibility here at some point, so it's not out of the question these things might be added in a future HubSpot world.
