When the cookie banner is rejected or even ignored, the source of that contact will appear as Direct traffic if they are converted.

Is there any way (tech & legal) to get the source even if the cookie banner was rejected or ignored?

That is a big issue for everyone.

If the UTM parameters from their visit are submitted with the form then they will be recorded as organic, social, etc., regardless of whether the cookie is being set. But if those cookies are lost then there will be no way to make that determination.

Thank you for your reply.

So basically, if we use cookie banner - we have to add hidden UTM fields, and use UTMs all over our assets, right? AND important thing - it WILL NOT keep the original source but only the last "source" that led them to the form submission.....

Will it work the same using the HubSpot tracking URLs?

If it is organic search or organic refferal, where we cannot use the UTMs, what can be done then?
