Hi all,

Looking for some help with email deliveries if possible.

We use automated emails through workflows for lead nurture, but during a lot of months we also run promotional email campaigns using regular emails to all our leads.

Is there a way that we can manage email deliveries in workflows, so that a lead doesn't receive a nurture email and a promotional email in the same day? The promotional emails will be time-sensitive, so we want those to deliver at the time we schedule them, but we also don't want to restrict the deliveries of nurture emails.

For example, can we delay automated emails in workflows by a certain amount of time based on whether or not they have received a regular marketing email?

Say for example if they receive a promotional email on Monday, but they are due to receive a nurture email on Monday, can we delay the nurture email by 72 hours?

Or is there a better way to do it?

Any insight, ideas or advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

In your case, I would consider using the delay event which will test until a contact meets the criteria or the maximum time if not. This would likely involve building out a custom property (t/f) and a workflow to change that value based on a last marketing email send date and last marketing email name.

Otherwise, if you do a if/else branch looking at the last send date, then they will always be held for the 3 days and risk waiting 3 days even if they only should be waiting 1. Also using only that property you cannot distinguish between subscription types to know whether or not the last email sent was a promotional email or nurture email.
