Onboarding Email Stopped Due to Bounce Rate

Hi there, we have an onboarding workflow with 4 emails and the first in the series has been stopped because of a 2.55% bounce rate (on 45,000 successful deliveries). Now new leads cannot move through our onboarding funnel. Should I just clone the email and add a new version to the workflow? Or is there another way to get this email to send again, so I can retain the data? Many thanks, Heather

Hi @HHoward,

Cloning would be the fastest fix, but I'd recommend reaching out to your HubSpot customer success manager or to HubSpot support as the issue will likely arise again.

I know that in the past, HubSpot has stopped emails with much higher bounce rates (18-20%), so maybe whatever mechanism stopped the email is not working as expected.

@HHoward I also recommend creating an exclusion list that will automatically update with globally bounced contacts (bounced and unsubscribed) that you can use to exclude enrollment of in the workflow.

Even if the contact is new to your CRM, HubSpot can often detect globally bounced email addresses that can help prevent this from becoming more of an issue in the future.

@karstenkoehler if a globally bounced contact is on your list and "you" attempt to send the email to them, HubSpot won't send it, it ends up in the not sent recipients...this still hurts your email health since HubSpot knows you attempted to include someone you shouldn't have, this is a red flag and can cause your emails to stop sending (even with a lower bounce rate).
