HubSpot Quote CMS Now Unusable

Hi HubSpot team,

I’m facing a critical issue with the new quote CMS. Since the recent update, it has become impossible to create usable quotes for my client.

Here’s the situation: means my client cannot use HubSpot for quoting anymore.

Previously, this worked perfectly with the old quote editor — but now, everything has changed, and custom models are no longer editable unless you go through the CMS and code, which is unrealistic for most users.
To make matters worse, my client is now paying for Commerce Hub, which used to be free, and it’s currently completely unusable.

We need to have access to the old quote editor again

What version of the update broke or deprecated these changes? without knowing too much about the setup and details, are you able to downgrade as a possible workaround for the time being?

In terms of handling the criticle incident, which subscription plan are the clients on? are they able to submit a helpdesk ticket via the service plan they are on such as the starter, professional, or enterprise listed here

Another alternative route might be to visit the ideas page here and submit the issue there as well.

HubSpot is changing a few things - unfortunately I cannot say that I'm (as many other users) happy about all of them tbh.

Like moving the creation of (Landing) Pages from Marketing Hub to Conent Hub or - in your case - the quote creation from Sales Hub to Commerce Hub Pro and not even providing a Commerce Hub Starter.

I don't have Commerce Hub Pro but I still being able to create quotes via the quotes "tool".

As it always was - quotes are more or less static templates with placeholders for the actual quote creation like reciever name, company, line items...

Changing the template itself was always a "code thing" unless the developer(s) who created the template itself, created a bunch of custom quote modules that would allow you to change things via something like a dropdown/select or the module options. But most devs I know don't do this as it's easier, cheaper and more user friendly to create just different templates instead of one major template and a bunch of modules.

You got a few options:

Create your own custom template by yourself or with the help of a developer
Open a ticket as @alee303 mentioned

Hi people,

My concern is not really for me, but actually for one of my clients. Maybe you don’t know yet, but I’m an integrator working on the French market, and I’m collaborating closely with one of my partners — a HubSpot salesperson and friend — who was very negatively surprised by the recent changes happening in the quote creation tool.

We can no longer send legally valid quotes from the CMS tool natively in France, for the simple reason that we are obliged by law to display the VAT (IVA) rate on each product line. This feature is not available anymore without coding directly in the CMS.

I can call colleagues that arre able to code in the CMS too but my client doesn't want to have any additionnal cost for something he was supposed to do for free (which I understand).

To me, that’s a real problem — even a scandal — considering how well the previous quote creator tool worked, and that it was free to use (on the sales Hub pro). Now, no salesperson in the French market will want to sell Commerce Hub, including myself as a partner, because it’s simply not worth it for the client in its current state.

being located in Germany myself, I fully understand that you need to meet some law requirements.

Just checked in my Starter Suite, I am able to add/select the tax rates that are being created in the Settings/Data Settings/Objects/Products/Tax rates per line item.

Is this something you can't do anymore or is the tax not showing up in the quote itself?

Hey @Vernayo_Partner - that sounds frustrating.

If it helps we have a native HubSpot app called Portant that gives you more control over quotes (including using any Custom Property or performing custom calculations on properties). We use Google Docs/Slides/Sheets to allow you to design the quote exactly the way you want it to. You'll be able to do things like:

source and use any data connected to your HubSpot Deal - custom properties and custom objects included
save PDF/document details and links as custom HubSpot properties on your record so you can trigger HubSpot workflows from the documents Portant creates
be run from within HubSpot or via HubSpot workflows, and make quote templates editable without coding

Dear Hubspot - you can no longer edit a published quote?

This is a very strange approach as the amount of small changes that get made to a quote are hard to count. You can't even clone it - you have to start from scratch?

Clearly you work mostly with people who never edit quotes - I can't understand this change at all.

As our team outlined in this video from this community post, our intention is not to disrupt your workflow, but rather to establish a foundation for a better product moving forward.

As for cloning Quotes;

In your HubSpot account, navigate to Commerce > Quotes.

Hover over a quote and click the Preview button.
In the upper right, click Actions, then select one of the options "Recall" "Clone" "Download"

Regarding CPQ quote templates cloning; this is not supported yet, but it is currently on the product team's roadmap.

Good morning everyone,

Following up on your previous answer, I believe there may still be a
misunderstanding about the situation we are facing.

When we refer to the *new quoting platform* that has been rolled out
to all *new
HubSpot customers since last week*, we are talking about a system that
is *radically
different* from what existed in previous years. The *only* quoting tool now
available is the *new CPQ quote builder*, which relies on drag-and-drop
blocks and AI-generated layouts.

Critically, this new CPQ environment is *not editable*, neither through the
CMS nor via custom code. All legacy quote templates that you may still see
in the CMS are simply remnants of the old system. They *cannot* be used or
activated on a new HubSpot account.

After an extensive discussion with both the sales engineering team and
technical support at HubSpot, the conclusion is now very clear:
*HubSpot is currently unable to support IVA-compliant or customizable quote
templates for the European market using the new platform.*

If you believe the opposite, I would genuinely appreciate you to
provide a *Loom
video* showing you editing a quote—*not from a legacy customer account*,
but specifically from the *new platform released for new customers* over
the last week.

This would help us confirm whether there is a solution we may have missed,
or whether the limitation is indeed structural.

Thanks for reaching back out here! I'd like to clarify that my response was to @WarrenG's comment regarding not being able to clone published quotes.

As for content of the original post/ your most recent comment, you are correct. CPQ Quote templates are not editable by CMS nor via custom code.

I understand this is a current challenge for your team. Our team is aware of this feedback and can confirm its on their roadmap; however, a definitive timeline is not yet available. Thank you for your understanding, and I hope I could help clarify what we are capable of doing currently!

Yes - indeed everything was just moved so 'user error' on my part (though I called twice to support and both times they told me it was simply removed - hence my frustration).

They made one further change to make it worse, however, as the quotes section just says 'published' instead of updating status' such as 'paid' which made life clearer / easier before.

@Anton I completely agree with your point about being unhappy that quote creation has been removed from Sales Hub and moved to Commerce Hub. We are on an Enterprise Sales Hub plan (which is far from cheap) and it's exceptionally frustrating that we would now have to pay for an additional subscription to access updates to a feature (Quotes) that was originally included in our Sales Hub plan. Very unhappy indeed.
