Help Needed – Custom Template Not Redirecting on Mobile

Hi everyone,

We’re experiencing an issue with our website BeSocialScene.com, which is hosted on HubSpot. The site works fine on desktop, but when viewed on mobile, the event links are not functioning properly. For example, when clicking on Whiskey Tasting Festivals, the page does not redirect to the event page as expected—it just stays on the same screen.

HubSpot support reviewed the page settings and mentioned that we are using a custom template and that the event modules are custom modules. They indicated that the mobile responsiveness of these modules is controlled at the template level and suggested that a developer apply the necessary changes to make the modules responsive.

Since we do not have an in-house developer with HubSpot expertise, we are reaching out here for guidance. Could anyone advise on:

Possible causes for why these links are not working on mobile?
Where in the custom template we should check or update to fix this issue?
Best practices for ensuring mobile responsiveness of custom modules in HubSpot?

As HubSpot support suggests, it’s best to contact a developer. The easiest option is to reach out to the developer who originally built the theme/module. Looking further into the issue, the following points stand out:

The issue occurs in a slider involving a card. On desktop, this card flips to reveal a different image.
The problem only appears on mobile. When hovering over the card, it flips instead of redirecting to the link. Since there’s no hover on mobile, it flips when you tap the card.
The link is only clickable on the gray area on desktop. On mobile, it is not visible. This should be resolved with CSS.
My advice:
- Have an experienced specialist review the issue, preferably someone with expertise in web development and user experience.
- Upon delivery, it’s important to thoroughly test everything yourself. Make sure to check it in various browsers, such as Chrome and Safari, and also test it on different devices to ensure that the responsiveness works correctly.

Here are a few quick things to check:

Likely Causes:

Overlay issue: An element with position:absolute or a high z-index could be sitting on top of the link and blocking taps.
Hover-only interaction: If the event card uses a hover effect (e.g., flip or expand), the first tap might trigger the animation but not follow the link.
Partial clickable area: If the <a> tag only wraps part of the card, mobile users may be tapping non-clickable space.

Where to Look:

Design Manager: Check your custom template for how the event module is structured. Make sure the <a> tag wraps the entire interactive area.
Module CSS: Look at mobile-specific styles (@media queries) that might hide or block interaction.
Javascript&colon; Make sure no custom click handlers are using preventDefault() without also redirecting on mobile.

Quick Fix Tip:

Try adding a solid background color to each layer in the event card. Whichever color fills the screen when you tap is likely blocking the link.
