Email templates with "common modules"?

Hey, so if I try to create an email via the built-in email-templates from HubSpot I get this UI:

while if I create my own email template (hs create template, chose email) that gives me an entierly different UI, without drag&drop functionalities or even the "common modules" like Text, Image etc.

Is it really not possible to have a hybrid? Is the built-in that unique?

I've even tried inserting a {% dnd_area %} and pre-added a module (Banner), but the UI only brings it up as a "static module" and not something I can drag and drop anyway.

@Track , unfortunatley yes - custom templates can be created via Design Tools, but can't be made available in the Drag and Drop section.

It is possible to create a new template in the Drag and Drop section, but it's not possible to edit it via Design Tools once created.

The new Drag and Drop emails are built using a completely different UI as you mentioned and don't leverage Design Tools at all.

I'm not 100% on this, but I believe it is part of the shift away from coded files and to make DnD more accessible to non-developers. Developers can still create fully custom emails with coded files, but the DnD capabilities weren't brought over to the backend in Design Tools.

Hi @Track,

the "new" drag&drop builder sunsetted the old "design-manager" email templates in January 22. But as @Jnix284 mentioned - developers still have the ability to create "hardcoded" email templates via design-tools(how the design-manger is called now).

Nevertheless - up to date you can't create custom drag&drop emails via local environment/CLI neither the design-tools.

Saved sections like @Jnix284 mentioned are great if you'd like to reuse specific parts of an email - if you want to reuse the whole email there is only one "real" solution for this:

create a email template via drag&drop
save it as template(you need marketing professional for this)

If you don't have marketing pro - there's a workaround:

create a template
call it something like "DND_Template_Newsletter" or something like that
clone this email everytime you want to use this layout
edit the content of the cloned email to your needs
