Hello and welcome,

This will simply not be possible unless the old theme has the identical Hubspot modules, because the design manager gives you so much flexibility in the module design that the field names may not match.

How many pages is that?

Hi all! I'm a developer, but a bit new to HS.

Our team is creating a site on Hubspot, and have populated a lot of content using a Marketplace theme.

However, we have since realized we will need to either use a Child theme or a cloned version of the Marketplace theme, which would give us greater customization options on the development side of things.

My main questions:

Is there a way to change the associated template/theme for every page in bulk?

The only way I can see to do this is to go into each page's settings > advanced options > template manually.

If we update a module (ie. a Navbar menu) it seems to clear all of the content that was previously populated. Is there a way to preserve the settings when making module code customizations?

I am using a clone of the marketplace theme, so all of the module settings are effectively the same.

However, I ended up manually updating the pages to use the new theme, so this is no longer a concern.

Thanks for your help @SJaeger

For anyone else looking for an answer to this, please read!

Cloning a theme removes the dependency from the marketplace theme, which means the theme developer can no longer support you, you can't receive updates from the marketplace, etc.

Creating a child theme allows your theme to remain connected to the parent (the marketplace theme), but also allows you to customize as needed.

For example, you can add customization in the CSS if you want to override an individual style/class beyond what is possible in the theme settings. If you have a developer who wants to customize a template or a module, cloning just that file to the child will allow for the customization and only overrides the parent for that element so it won't be impacted by future updates.

Please, use child themes!
