We've a new customer on board who does a lot of CC'ing of contacts who need to know about the email content, so this is important functionality. Will this be worked on HubSpot, please? or is the answer above all we will get in response. In addition to this, my customer sent me an email, it showed on his screen that I had opened it - yet I had not, it seems to be sending out auto reads, when in fact the recipient has not yet opened the email. Using me as the example, my laptop and phone were shut/off and I did not open that email until later in the day. Any insight to this or when this functionality may be improved is very welcome.

Email Tracking - names not "Someone"

Hi,

I regularly use email tracking to know when emails I've sent have been opened.

However, in the vast majority of cases I only learn that "Someone" has opened a mail.

There have been a couple of rare occassions when I was given actual names of people who had opened the mails. But under normal circumstances it is the faceless "Someone".

How do i change this so that i get the name of the Opener?

Hi @mhemingway,

Thanks for reaching out!

There are a couple of reasons why you may be seeing 'someone' opened an email instead of a specific contact.

This article explains that in more detail, and I'll leave a snippet of the explanation below as well:

You may see a 'Someone' notification if one of the following occurs:

If you send a tracked email to multiple email addresses (including CC and BCC), they all receive the same HubSpot Sales tracking image. HubSpot will still notify you of the email open, but HubSpot may not be able to determine which recipient opened the email.

If you have the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) toggle enabled in your HubSpot account and a contact does not have a lawful basis for data processing, HubSpot Sales will track emails you send to that contact, but the notifications will be anonymous. The Recent sales email open date and Recent sales email clicked date properties will also not be updated.

If you'd like the most accurate tracking possible and hope to avoid "Someone" notifications as much as possible, the best course of action is to send your email to individual contacts instead of multiple contacts. It's worth noting that this won't prevent users from forwarding your email to others, meaning you may still see some "Someone" notifications.

Hope this helps!

Best,

Kristen

Hi Kristen, can this be resolved at some point so there is a separate version of the tracking image to each person? thanks so much, Kristen

If you send a tracked email to multiple email addresses (including CC and BCC), they all receive the same HubSpot Sales tracking image. HubSpot will still notify you of the email open, but HubSpot may not be able to determine which recipient opened the email.
