Gmail Auto forward to HS BCC not working because BCC address in Hubspot needs verification

Hello All ,

this is really annoying . there must be other trying to solve this . We would like to track certain emails in which the customer ( our HS contacts ) are addressed , our main email which is inbox connected and a registered user is only BBCed . mails are not showing up in the contacts activity . we are sucessfully using the hubspot BCC address to track other exteral emails originated from our sender address from another external service and how can we track thos e emails in Hubspot. we are trying a forward from gmail to our Hubspot bcc address which works for other emails already which have our email address as sender . We are trying to create an auto forward for those specific emails in Gmail but the bcc hubspot email needs to be verified by the confirmationcode in the email sent by Gmail and somehow there is no way to see those BCC emailsbecause they probably originate from some internal gmail address . there bust be a way to fetching those or some other workaround ?

Thank you for reaching out!

The forwarding address is intended to log specific emails, as opposed to being used for a general forwarding rule. As a result, HubSpot does not have support for receiving a verification code for adding a forwarding rule.

A workaround would be to set this forwarding up using a different email client that does not require a verification code. Thunderbird can do this and is a free open-source email client.

I would also recommend connecting with HubSpot Technical Support, as Support is included in your subscription and they may be able to provide additional technical advice based on how your email configuration and integrated HubSpot tools.

Have you checked this KB article which outlines the difference between the BCC and forwarding address in HubSpot, and what the email client requirements are?

From your explanation, if I understood correctly, you might be better off using the forwarding address.

Have you considered using and installing the HubSpot Gmail Plugin, this allows for either default or case by case (or email by email) decision if these emails should be logged and/or tracked, which sounds like that is what you are after...

Hi @kvlschaefer ,

We have a sales team that is highly mobile and prefer to use Gmail / Outlook instead of the hubspot mobile app. As such, our email capture rate is very low. And manually adding the bcc / forwarding address is out of the question for most people given the difficulty on mobile devices. Having the ability to enable auto bcc and auto forward from both Gmail and Outlook would increase our email capture rate 10 fold and lead to significant improvements in our downstream conversion rate. So the inability to verify the forwarding address is a pretty significant issue for us. That's not to mention the slew of other difficulties we've run into with capturing emails originating from mobile devices.

Please note, many of the sales teams we work with are willing to trade off the privacy concerns of selectively logging mobile emails for the massive capture rate increase from enabling auto forwarding. And many sales people (myself included) split personal and work emails to prevent companies from logging personal communcations.

Is this a feature that your team would be willing to prioritize? I have to imagine I'm not the only person who's sales teams would benefit greatly from increased mobile email tracking.

I am sending emails via Hubspot, but I wouldn't wanna add an inbox in Hubspot. When a customer answers, it would not show up in the dataset, only in Gmail. Hence, using the Chrome extension protocol / log is not quite an option for the use case. Becoming able to verify the forwarding address remains cruicial to us. Has anyone found a workaround?
