      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hello There,&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I have a situation where a contact is created becasue in it was in a CC. And now when answering the email, i cannot answer to the email addrtess in CC, because the team rule is not to see the contacts that are assigned NOT to ME. Then everytime I have to ask the admin to assign the contact to me and then i can freely email.&amp;nbsp;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;How can we assign the owner of the contact based from which email adress the email was recieved? there are 5 sales people, each with its own email in Inbox. And all 5 emails creat a contact that does not have an owner untill we ask the admin. We do not want this contact to be visible to everyone, just to the person from whose email it was created.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

HubSpot has no way of knowing which contacts should be assigned to which person, but if there are &lt;STRONG&gt;common datapoints&lt;/STRONG&gt; to act on, you'd be able to manage this routing in a Workflow.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;For instance, if it's all people from a specific organization that should belong to you, that lends itself to an easy Workflow solution like:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Contact Workflow&lt;/STRONG&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Trigger:&amp;nbsp;&lt;/STRONG&gt;Contact Created AND Email Domain is known&lt;/P&gt;&lt;UL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Branch for each of the 5 REPS&lt;UL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;In each branch, filter by Domain Names you would expect these contacts to come from. For instance, one branch could be the domain of "nike.com", and "addidas.com", and another branch could be "McDonalds.com" and "Arbys.com"&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;Edit Record &amp;gt; Contact Owner = Rep Responsible for these brands.&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;So it really all comes down to the data available to you. If you don't have any common datapoints to intelligently route these Contacts to the correct owners, the next suggestion would be to build a Dashboard or Notification system to get Contacts assigned when they are created with no Owner - that way your admin team could act immediately on assigning owners instead of waiting on someone to ask for it!&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Hope that helps your understanding here.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

&lt;P&gt;Short version: HubSpot does not currently assign a contact owner based on which inbox address received the email. When a contact is created because they were CC’d on an inbox email, HubSpot intentionally leaves the owner empty. There’s no native setting in Sales or Inbox to say “if the email came to inbox A, assign owner A.” HubSpot treats inboxes as shared intake, not ownership logic.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P data-start="835" data-end="1412"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P data-start="835" data-end="1412"&gt;What you can do today is approximate this with workflows, but only if you have a reliable signal to branch on. For example, you can build a contact workflow triggered on “Contact create date is known” AND “Contact owner is unknown,” then assign ownership based on something like email domain, company association, or a custom property you populate later. That’s essentially what HumbleTinker outlined, and it’s the only supported automation path right now. &lt;P data-start="1414" data-end="1701"&gt;What you cannot do natively is read “which inbox address was CC’d” as a workflow condition. That data lives at the conversation level, not cleanly on the contact record in a way workflows can consume. Because of that, HubSpot can’t auto-route ownership purely from inbox address today.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P data-start="1703" data-end="2106"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P data-start="1703" data-end="2106"&gt;Two practical alternatives I’ve seen work in teams with strict visibility rules. First, relax contact visibility slightly so unassigned contacts created via inbox are visible to the inbox users, even if they’re not the owner yet. Second, auto-assign temporarily via a workflow to a queue user or rotating owner, then let reps reassign once they reply. Not perfect, but it removes the admin bottleneck.&lt;/P&gt;
