Automatically set follow ups

Is there a way to Automatically set your follow ups to 2 weeks.

For example if I put a new contact in and send them an email, is there a way to have hubspot automatically set a reminder for me to follow up in 2 weeks vs. having to go and manually input it in the extension on google chrome.

Hi @HMay301

There isn't a setting that will allow you to do that currently, but if you have access to sequences you are able to build a sequence to send your email and create a task with that 2 week delay you are wanting. It would replace you manually sending the email and creating the task. This works especially well if you are sending the same general email every time.

If you're using Sales Hub Professional or Enterprise, you can automatically set follow-up reminders using Sequences.

For example, you can:

Send an initial email
Then have a follow-up task or second email scheduled automatically 2 weeks later if there’s no reply

This helps maintain consistent outreach without needing to manually set reminders each time.

If you're sending one-to-one emails from the CRM, there's also an option to manually add a follow-up task before sending. This gives you flexibility, but it’s not fully automatic.

For Marketing Emails, you can use Workflows to trigger follow-up tasks based on engagement (e.g., email not opened or no reply after 14 days).

Hi @HMay301,

If you have access to workflows you can also automate this with a workflow:

Create a workflow that’s triggered when a contact is added or emailed (e.g. "Last contacted date is known").
Add an action to create a task.
Set the task due date to 14 days from now and title it something like “Follow up with [Contact Name].”

This way, every time you email someone or create a new contact, HubSpot can auto-create a follow-up reminder for you — no need to do it manually through the Chrome extension.

Totally get wanting to skip the manual clicks, been there too. Just to double check: are you using the free CRM, or do you have access to workflows (like with Sales Pro)? If you do have workflows, here’s a quick win: 1. Head to Automation > Workflows 2. Create one that enrolls contacts when they’re added or emailed 3. Add a Delay for 14 days 4. Then drop in a Create task action—title it something like “Follow up with {{contact. firstname}}” I’ve used that setup to keep leads from slipping through the cracks without having to poke around Chrome extensions every time. If you're on the free plan, it’s a bit more manual, but happy to suggest a workaround there, too. Just say the word 🙂

Short answer: yes, but not natively in the way you’re describing.

In HubSpot today

You can use workflows to automatically create a follow-up task
Trigger examples:
- Contact enrolled + sales email sent
- Deal stage changes
Action: create a task due in 14 days

Limitations:

It’s rule-based, not context-aware
It won’t know if the prospect replied, went dark, or the convo already progressed
Still task-driven, so reps can ignore it

How some teams go further
Instead of auto-creating tasks for every email, some teams look at tools that sit on top of the inbox and:

Detect when a real sales conversation starts
Flag when replies stall
Surface “hey, you should follow up” moments automatically

(This is where tools like EVE come in, it watches actual inbox activity and nudges follow-ups when conversations go quiet, without manual task creation.)
