Region specific date formats in blog templates

Hi there,

We recently migrated all of our multi-language content to be under our .com domain. For instance, we use to have ecoonline.fi/bloggi but now it's ecoonline.com/fi/bloggi and so on. What I'm stuck on is how to set region-specific date formats for these blog posts, now that they are using the same blog template. All of Europe and the Nordic countries we have will post the date as day/month/year but in North American and the UK, it needs to be set to month/day/year/. Is it possible to have multiple date formats within the same template?

Before we proceed, I'd like to confirm a detail. Is the date format you're looking to change related to the publish date of the blog posts? or does it pertain to a different aspect? If it does could you please specify which particular aspect you're referring to? If you have a screenshot available, that would be greatly helpful.

Hi Diana,

I'm referring to a different aspect, in this case, the language of the blog post. For all English blog posts that we have on our site (URLs ecoonline.com/blog and ecoonline.com/en-us/blog), the published date must appear as month/day/year.

For all other languages that we have (an example, ecoonline.com/fi/blog) the published date needs to appear as day/month/year. Currently, we are only able to have it display one way or the other but not both depending on the language. I've attached some screen shots that hopefully provide context. Additionally, the options to customize date formats in blog settings is greyed out, not sure why

I have reviewed it, and currently, the available option to change the format is based on blog languages rather than the regions.To proceed with the process, it's essential to have the necessary permissions enabled and follow the steps outlined in the following article.

1. Permissions: Settings > Users and Team > Select the user > Actions >Edit permissions> Account > Seetings > Website Settings - toggled on

2. Follow the steps on the article: Set your blog's date formats

If your goal is to alter the format based on regions rather than languages, I recommend considering the creation of a new feature request in our ideas' forum, this is being monitored by our product team, and if there are any options for implementation, they will certainly keep you informed.

Hi @DianaGomez unfortunately, I don't have the permission sets necessary to do it that way. Can this not be achieved by editing the template? Here is the section in question:

Would 'if' statements not work in this case? In a nutshell, I just need all English blog posts to have the date appear at month/day/year. The rest of the languages can stay as is

No worries, I acutally figured it out. I added an 'if' statement for 'group.language' and that did the trick! Thanks for your help.
