Change Domain of Landing Page

Hi there,

I am on a free Marketing Plan.

I set up the accout with a domain. However we change the company name. So I change the company domain in the settings.

When I create a landing page however it still uses the old domain:

olddomain.hubspotpagebuilder.com

I don't mind the hubspotpagebuilder as I would need to change plan to edit this.

I would like to change it so that it looks like this:

newdomain.hubspotpagebuilder.com

Can anyone help me?

I contacted Hubspot through the chat but they are unable to help me.

Hi @CEhrlich,

Could you specify where you made the change? A screenshot would also provide valuable context.

It looks like you're on a free account. Changing the primary domain for your HubSpot content is unfortunately limited to Marketing Hub and CMS Hub Professional and Enterprise accounts. That is likely the reason why any change isn't actually reflecting in the URL structure.

Here I changed the Company URL to the new one

When I create a landing page it still use the old domai one-key to create the URL

I also found this in the settings of Tracking & Code. This domain is marked as hosted.

I just want to change the hosted domain here to loqsta.hubspotpagebuilder.com

Hi @CEhrlich,

This might not be possible in the free version. A lot of other tools, for example meeting links, behave the same way. You just get one edit, no changes. If the change is not reflecting in the URL, that is likely the reason.

It is a shame that this can not be changed.

What solutions can you provide instead?

Can I open a new account with the new domain and start from scratch? However is it then possible to migrate all the Customer Data we have to the new account?

Hi @CEhrlich,

I can't say for sure that this will work but it might. Sometimes HubSpot cross-checks portal information. However it's a free portal so there's nothing to lose here. You would then have to export all data before re-importing it into the new portal. This can be complicated as the export files will not automatically have the format needed for importing objects with associations (e.g. contact and company associations). It's doable but will for sure cause a bit of headache.

Alternatively you would have to upgrade to Marketing Hub Starter to connect your own domain.

As for your alternative:

One last option I would like to double check. Can I upgrade to Marketing Hub Starter, make the changes and downgrade again? This would cost me one month of subscription but seems an easy way, if I can cancel straight after I made the changes.

You have to understand that we are a young start-up and we do not need the additional features for now.

I just need to make that one change.

You might mistake me for a HubSpot employee, I do not work for HubSpot and I not have any interest in selling the subscription to you 😉

I'm not sure whether that would work, honestly. You will gain the ability to connect a domain but you will lose that ability again when downgrading – and you'll be stuck with your current URL again. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

On a related note, you might want to have a look at the HubSpot for Startups program?

I would recommend you to add a subdomain in your landing page. As per my understanding you can proceed with this using a starter plan. Check out the below article for more understanding.

For everyone trying to fix a similar issue.

Unfortunately on a free plan there is no way to fix this.

Once you set up your account the URLs are fixed.

The only way for now is to open a new account, export your data and import again.

It is a bit annoying but doable especially if you do not have that many contacts.
