Header displaying as blocks of text on new pages rather than as an actual header

I am not sure why this has happened to all the new pages I have created in HubSpot, but the global header seems to be displaying as blocks of text rather than how it should be appearing as you can see in the image I've attached. I know nothing about developing or coding, why has this happened and how can I fix it?Correct headerHeader on new pages ??

Hi @CTrinh4

It looks like what you’re seeing is just the global header inside the module preview. If I'm not mistaken, HubSpot doesn’t load the full page’s CSS there, so the header can look broken or appear as plain text ; totally normal.

If you preview a full page (in the top right corner), the header should look completely normal again. And once published, everything will display correctly on the live site (it still works on the live website for example). It's just a little HubSpot preview quirk, I've seen it in other places too.

Let me know if that's not the case and I'll investigate.

I don't think that's the case, as I originally thought the same, but when I published the page, the menu remained in plain text. I think it may be because the page template I am using (from the TrendBiz pack) is different from other pages where the header displays correctly. However, the pages that display it correctly use custom templates that only allow modules to be added from Design Manager, rather than in a drag and drop page editor, so I'm reluctant to use them as they're not very flexible in the page editor.

Our home page uses a drag and drop template from the TrendBiz pack too, and somehow the person before me has placed our designed header in correctly for desktop. However it doesn't reformat correctly for mobile so that's another issue in itself. the custom template headers do reformat correctly for mobile though, Is there a way for me to take the header from those pages and place it in to the TrendBiz Template?

also, does anyone know why the menu item' success stories' is highlighted in grey? It's one we recently added. menu incorrectly formatted on mobile using trendbiz templateheader placed into trendbiz template (desktop))header in custom non drag and drop templateheader correctly forrmatted for mobile using custom non drag and drop template

Got it, your question had more depth indeed. I'm not a dev myself and almost never work with templates for these reasons but I'll explain what i know.

Origin of the issue with TrendBiz pages:

The TrendBiz theme includes its own header module and header CSS.
If a page uses a TrendBiz template, it will automatically use their header unless someone has manually overridden it or disabled global content.

Using custom templates / modules:

You could work with the TrendBiz header to come up with the same result, but I assume the reason it was abandoned along the way is that they were roadblocks (or it worked and an update broke it?).

Mix and matching?

So your question is more about mix and matching modules. Short answer is that you generally can't / don't (modules belonging to their theme). But technically you could work around it and bring code from one to the other, but that's not going to be straightforward, as the settings/styling/names etc. will be different, so it will require some adaptations probably. And that's where my knowledge stops, for i'd generally ask a dev to actually do it.

And let's ignore mobile for now. As for why "Managed IT" is highlighted, it has a class "active active-branch" on top of "hs-menu-item hs-menu-depth-2" that others don't, probably added manually or due tue a tickbox or something in module settings.

And generally speaking, these issues are why i prefer to work with custom templates, and then the only focus is making sure you have a module for each of your needs, and opening the right customizations options instead of a one-fit-all solution.
