Can't end an A/B test on landing pages

I've tried ending an A/B test about 10 times now but every time I go back into the landing page it shows as still being active.

Are there any work around to this? I've tried going into the page edit and ending the test there and also from Content details > test results and tried selecting "Choose as winner"

Hi @Beth_tsi,

Choosing as winner from the Test results tab should work, this sounds like a bug. Have you tried making the changes in a different browser / private tab without extensions?

Since you're running A/B tests, you seem to have a Professional or Enterprise subscription with access to HubSpot support (see the purple in-app widget on the lower right of the screen). I would reach out to them to see what's going on.

For an interim brute force solution, you could try to delete the variation which you don't want to keep: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/website-pages/run-an-a-b-test-on-your-page#delete-a-variation

I'm running an A/B test on a landing-page as well and now I want to continue working with the B variant. I've found this information: "In your A/B tested page, only the B variation can be deleted without deleting the page."

Do you have any experience with that @karstenkoehler? The Hubspot Support told me I have to build the "B variation" again if I want to continue with this version and delete the Landing-Page but I can't believe thats the only way.

I'm also experiencing this exact same problem, I cannot end the split test, I have no option to choose a winner, which means I can't start the next phase of testing. Sad to see this is a problem that's nearly a year old now.

OK. Choosing a winner works. But come on Hubspot, the "end test" button is mis-leading.

You can select a winner and it will disable the AB testing. Yeah, that end test button is absolutely misleading!

@Beth_tsi As a heads up if you run into this again, we just had a similar case. Once the user made a small edit to the "winning" version and republished the page was defaulting to only that version.

We did have him delete the "loser" variation from the A/B test for safe measure but I would first try making a small update on the page you want to keep to see if hard refreshes it.

2025 and this is still an issue. A button titled "End Test" should end the test.

We also can't end an A/B test.
It has caused confusion and I have no doubt it's cost us new customers.

This is SO basic as functionality goes.
Course no surprise, Hubspot often over promises. It only works at tracking form submissions, can't track buttons or anything else as a success metric. Which is why we (thought we) canceled this test after 2 days because we realized that Hubspot's A/B testing is so limited that it was useless). Started seeing anomalies, realized it was still on after troubleshooting concerns with HS support and "ended" it again. Only to realize this week that it's STILL running. we've tried everything we can think of. Unpublishing the B page, unpublished the main page as well. (That was fun.) So this is not an option either.

It's just so frustrating that what should be a simple feature that empowers marketing has cost our team valuable time and hurt sales.

All, I figured it out... at least for us.
In the page "performance" select "test results" then you have to actually scroll your mouse over the section of the page where the page results show "views, total submissions, etc". as. you scroll over the page row a button will APPEAR that lets you "pick a winner".

Such terrible UX.
You have no idea the button/option it exists unless you scroll over it. 😞
