Can I create a download form a landing page

I am using the free version.

I have created (Still working on a landing page.

I have a form that I can download

I would like people to click on a "get your copy" button on landing page and have them receive the download. After about 45 minutes I cannot seem to find that answer in help or by just working it.

Is this possible?

Which step exactly are you stuck at? You have the landing page, you have the form embedded on the page?

Are you missing the part of providing the piece of content? If so, upload it in the file manager, grab the link of the file and include the link in the message that is displayed after submitting the form (options tab in the forms editor).

Hi Karsten, Thanks for helping.

I have a landing page and it is distinct from the form I have built. If I try to creae a link for the form I have to email it to someone.

My hope is to embed a link in the landing page (get your copy here" button and capture the email and send them the download. Notng I have tried has worked. The first link you send me says to naviage to Library > Files When I navigate to Library My options are not Files. I get Documents?

The second link shows me how to send an email but I don't see how to start a download.

Is there somthing I am missing?

I'm not sure I'm following. Why do you have to email the form link to someone? The form should be embedded on the landing page – so that you can then share the landing page with prospects / customers: https://knowledge.hubspot.com/forms/set-up-and-style-forms-on-hubspot-pages#set-up-your-forms

This was referring to how you can provide the file after the form is submitted – I thought this was were you were stuck at. It seems like the issue is more how to get the form onto the landing page, see above.

It is probably my lack of the hubspot lingo. I have attached a short video showing you my chalenge.

I have the form in the landing page (Get Your Copy Hear)

I have a document in my library to download (Three Conversations...)

The only link I seem to be able to create to that document is if I send it to their email address.

You can see this in the video.

@JRGies that helps, thank you – when you use the search bar at the top to look for files, do files show up then?

The documents section is for personalized sends, files would be what you use for general hosting. It's strange that this doesn't show up for you.

Hi @JRGies - I guess, you're not asking about how or where to host the download file. Right? HubSpot does not provide a 'file' hosting option in the free version, however, you can still upload photos, etc from the website and blog post editor.

Coming back to your question. When you create a form, you'll see two options (Go to form edit mode > Options):

- Thank you message

- HubSpot page or External URL

If you have the file ready, let's say you're hosting your file in Dropbox or Google Drive. Copy that public file link and use it on the form thank you options. You can provide a link to the file in the inline message (Thank you message). Or you can simply use that file link as an external URL.

This way, when someone fills up the form and clicks on 'get your copy', they will be able to download that file.

Hello @JRGies -

I want to clarify what the desired user experience is. Is it:

User enters their email, selects your CTA "Get Your Copy"
The PDF is emailed to them

-OR (What I believe is more likely based on your vides)-

User fills out form - submits form
Once they click submit with an email address the PDF opens up? -OR- File is accessible behind another button when the screen changes to display a thank you message (i.e. "Thank you, here is your copy...") When they click that CTA on the thank you page, it opens the PDF.

If the is the desired experience is an automatic download, at present there is no way to do this without custom code. This is largely to protect users (general online safety best practices). It has been discussed in a couple of HubSpot community posts:

However, if you're fine with them clicking a link on the thank you page, I'd recommend following @Aakar 's advice as this is the most conventional/user friendly experience. So these are the steps in order:

Upload your file to Google Drive, Dropbox, or another online repository for free where you can then get a link to view the document online
Create your form and choose the thank you page option for what happens when someone submits the form.
On the thank you page either hyperlink text to the document (i.e. "Click here to grab your copy) or add a new button/CTA that links to the document.

@aakarpost Thank you this gets me almost there. I had to link to a google doc. Now my challenge is that when someone fills in their email address on the form it is in white text so it blends with the field and you cant see it. I've gone back to the for to try to locate a place to edit color of text in that field and I cannot find it.

I have success following advice to have it download from GDrive. The Challenge I now have is that when the user types in their email (in the form) it is typed in white text. I am not able to find how to change text color there. Can you help?

@JRGies - You can edit it from the landing page section if you know CSS. Go to the landing page with the form you created. Go to settings > Advanced > Head HTML. You can define CSS color in Head HTML.

Thank you, I am sorry for the late response I have been under the weather.

I tired as you suggested. I went to the landing page>setting>language>Advanced>head and then entered the hexcode as suggested in looking up how to change color in CSS. Attached is a video of what I am experiencing.

Hi @JRGies - I hope you feel better now.

Let's try to resolve it via another method.

Go to your form > edit > Style & preview > Style (on the left panel). You'll see an option to change/update your colors.

The other method is, to go to the Form settings page and update the colors.

Thanks for sharing the video @JRGies - I think, your landing page theme is overriding the form settings, that's why it's not working. Now, let's go back again.

Go to the landing page > settings > Advanced > Head HTML and insert the following code:

Please send me the landing page preview link if it does not work.
