Custom Domain Error

Hello! I connected my custom domain to my HubSpot site, but it is only working with the /en-us slug. I followed the instructions from another community post (Settings > Tools > Content > Domains & URLs > Language Settings > toggle off "Enable Language Specific Redirects" and toggle off "Use Prefix in Slug"), but that did not work. I also tried this hack to clear the server cache with no success.

The domain should be www.drivecontentnow.com

It is only showing up under www.drivecontentnow.com/en-us

Please help!

By some miracle, I managed to figure this out. If you are having the same error, open the website editor and click "Settings" within the editor. Go to "Language" and make sure there is nothing in that field. Scroll up to General and under "Page URL" the slug should now be gone. Save and publish.

@KSulla happy to help with the domain - it looks like neither URL is working now so I'm assuming this isn't fixed yet.

If it's not fixed when you updated your global language settings, then the language is set for the individual page(s)

1 - open the page, click Settings > Language and change "English - United States" to "no language"

2 - if you get an error that the page already exists, you'll need to set the URL for your Blog Listing page (not blog posts, but the "home" for your blog).

Settings > Blog and enter a value (like "blog") in the Blog Slug box here:

Hi Jennifer! Thank you for your response. I made the language setting adjustment and got it to work correctly. Now I can pull up www.drivecontentnow.com on my computer, but when I try to do it on my phone, I get this error message:
"This site can't provide a secure connection. www.drivecontentnow.com uses an unsupported protocol. ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH"
I am not sure why it would work on my computer, but not on my phone. I double-checked the SSL settings and everything looks good, so I don't know what the issue is.

@KSulla I'm getting the SSL error on all devices, except when I use Incognito, then I get the original error that the DNS is unavailable.

Most likely your desktop cached the page somehow, regardless, it can take 24-48 hours for the DNS to fully propogate the changes.

I've seen some users at a company able to access a site immediately and others not until the next day. It looks like everything is connected correctly, it's just going to take some time for everything to fully propogate and then it should work.

If it's not working in the next 24 hours or so, let me know and we can take another look.

You're welcome @KSulla - I can confirm your website is working in incognito, so if you're not seeing it in your browser yet, you'll need to clear the cache for the site.

p.s. thanks for the heads up, I clicked my banner and it pulled up my profile, but I've never tried searching for my user name before and didn't realize it would do that. I sent a connection request 🙂

Thanks so much for following up @Jnix284. I tried this hack to clear the cache before but it clearly didn't work. Any suggestions?

I got the site to come up on my phone last night, but now I'm getting the SSL error again. I had 2 other people test it and it worked for one, but not the other.

You're welcome @KSulla, that hack is to clear the HubSpot server cache, which is not the cause of the issue here and that's why it isn't working.

Because it loads in Incognito, the most likely cause is your browser cache. You can try clearing your browser cache for your website to see if that helps, otherwise it's still going to take time for everything to fully propogate.

Until it's fully propogated, you'll need to use Incognito mode to view/review the site. One other thing you can try is to unpublish your home page and then publish it again. Because you've made so many changes to the settings in a short amount of time, this could be enough to push the change all the way through.

I'm really at a loss on what to do here. I've tried both of your recommendations and gave it time, but I am still having this issue. It seems the site works when typed in, but kicks back an SSL error when the link is clicked. Any thoughts?

@KSulla the only other thing I can think of is to disconnect the domain and reconnect - if that doesn't work, it might be better if we jump on a video call to look at what's going on together.
