Best practices for adding SPF record in HubSpot

Can you provide me with an SPF record I can add into my DNS so my domain doesn't get caught for spam? I am having issues with my emails going through and my IT team said I needed to get this from HubSpot. Can you please provide it to me and I can add it on my end?

I see that you have the tag "free" in your post. Are you using a "free" account or a Starter" account?

I wanted to share this knowledge base article regarding SPF records. This feature is available for Marketing Hub Starter, Professional and Enterprise, and CMS Hub Professional and Enterprise subscriptions.

If you have one of these subscription levels, there are step-by-step instructions in the knowledge base article on how to get your SPF record. Hope this helps!

Not much to add! You pretty much covered it @kvlschaefer. There's some great additional tips on this article here.

Overall free email tools are great, but realistically they're far more open to have their sending reputation destroyed by spammers. HubSpot do a great job of monitoring and attempting to keep on top of these spammers but just due to volume and the nature of it all it can be impossible to catch everything.

Realistically not using a free service would be the best first step if avoiding spam filters is a priority for you.

I am not paying anything so I am pretty sure I am pretty sure I am whatever the lowest level is. I looked at my account info and it doesn’t tell me a level like you have mentioned. Also, for CANSPAM issues and to protect my domain name, I need an SPF record to add to my DNS. I shouldn’t have to pay for an account to be told what the SPF is… My account is using my Outlook login info to email and to protect my email I need the SPF record.

Sorry, I guess I am confused. I can add the SPF to my DNS but my email and domain are not free. Are you saying I need to pay to use Hubspot to make my email safe? If so, why is it not safe as is?

It is safe as is. However, HubSpot (along with many other major mass email providers) charge to add your spf records.

There's nothing unsafe about HubSpot free, but you do need a paid account to add HubSpot to your spf records as per the doc Kristen linked earlier.

I can add my own SPF record so I don’t need you do to it. I guess I still don’t understand why I have to pay you money to make sure my domain doesn’t get flagged as spam, which it can if I am using an outside program like this. Can someone just give me the SPF record info? This is wild.

I never said you needed someone to do it. You do need a HubSpot starter account to enable the SPF connection feature within your portal. As outlined in the documention.

Did you get this resolved? I am looking to add SPF to my server, but I don't know what the data should be - except it's a TXT record. What are the actual values I need to include

I think there is info in this thread on what I needed to do. Here is the code I added to my DNS records:
(It’s a TXT file)

v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com include:sendersrv.com -all

You will need to add the domains that you want in the SPF record and you can add a bunch of them there.

Here is what Hubspot told me:

If it is, as a free user, how can I determine that value since it's not available in my Desktop Portal?

Hey @IFly0 have a look at the top of that article you shared, spf records is currently only available for starter and above portals.
