Hi @TScaleseBDMCP , thanks @BérangèreL for the tag

Here are a few ideas Tony:

If you just need to describe each line item more fully, including bullet points etc:

Add a Rich Text Description property to your product library, so that it appears as a Rich Text property on line items

Add some default text to the rich text description on each product so you don't have to start from scratch on each line item. You only need to edit the draft description that is cloned to each line item when added to the deal/quote from the product library.

Adapt your quote template to use the Rich Text property

Hide the existing multi-line text property so that users only use the Rich Text property

If however, you need to structure your line items on quotes, so that each task can have multiple line items per task, grouped into subtotals per task. This is more involved:

Add a "Task" (or "Grouping") property to your Product Library so that it appears on line items

If you have a standard set of tasks per project, make it a dropdown property, otherwise, you must be careful to copy/paste the free text into each line item per task group.

Custom code your quote template so that line items are grouped and subtotalled. This requires good knowledge of HubSpot Design Manager, HubSpot Quote Templates, Modules and HubL.

Use a third-party integrated quote builder such as PandaDoc, GleanQuote, quote.hapily and others

We developed DoPricer CPQ to handle like items but its focus is on pricing, not your descriptive use case.

Or finally, have a custom HubSpot UI Extensions app developed for your portal so that the deal interface performs exactly as your deal process requires. It's quite amazing what can be developed now in any portal, using HubSpot's UI Extensions.

I hope that helps!

best

How can I add granular details and assumptions to quote line items in HubSpot?

Hello,

I am using Sales Hub Professional and am building our quotes and proposals directly in HubSpot. As a professional services company, our quotes often require granular line items that break out key project tasks, including the associated effort, cost, and a set of assumptions for each.

I have not found a good way to add these assumptions or detailed descriptions directly to a line item. I would prefer to manage this natively in HubSpot rather than attaching a separate document. Does anyone have a recommended solution for this?

[Moderator Note: this post has been optimized for clarity and a relevant solution has been verified. Thank you for your contributions to the HubSpot Community!]

BOOM!!

The suggestion to add a rich text property was spot on. I can't believe I overlooked that. I am still ramping up with HubSpot and feel like i wasted your time with such a remedial question. I am really grateful for the additional detail. As the business continues to grow, I'll keep these more advanced options in mind and reach out if I need a partner to help me deploy a solution like this.

Thank you for the help!

Thanks Tony, you;re welcome! I'm glad that rich text descriptions do what you need!

And I'd say that archiving and replacing the multi-line text property description with a rich text property isn't that obvious. You first have to know that:

Properties added to the property library also show up on line items

HubSpot's deal & quote flow works OK if the default description is archived

Rich Text properties work OK in deal and quote line item user interfaces

HubSpot quote templates can handle line items with rich text properties

I'm glad you asked the question because this now becomes a searchable solution that others can discover and use without having to experiment to see if it works 🙂

best, Pete.
